Weather Forecasting

There are many forecast for windspeed out there and I think some
give a better forecast that VR (which I guess is built on Meteo
France). Try
HTML http://passageweather.com/
or if you want a really
nice animated forecast try windy.com from the ECMWF. ECMWF -
European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts- is currently
based near Reading and uses some really powerful supercomputers
to generate it's predictions.

I've found Windy pretty good too.
VOR - To foil or not to foil?

My understanding is the you need to be reaching or downwind and
with a decent amount of pressure for the foils to work.
For the prologue, l’m going without, however, I am using them on
the clipper at the moment. I would like an option to deploy or
not and see the speed gain. I will suggest it to VR but don’t
hold your breath!

Interesting to see whether they've programmed it so that the
foils only work at a certain wind speed/points of sailing - and
whether there are different polars for foiling. Think I'll give
them a miss for the Prologue.

We now seem to be able to get weather for free up to 24 hours
ahead, but to need a card thereafter.
