What happens to the cards I don't use?

From VR Help Pages
When you cross the finish line in a race or leg, Virtual Regatta
buys your cards back!
[li]The corresponding credits are given to you at the end of the
race or leg. The amount per card can vary from one race to the
next. To add them to your permanent credits, simply click on the
"Get" button on the arrival panel.[/li]
[li]If you do not wish to receive the credits corresponding to
the redeemed cards, and if you do not click the "Get" button,
these cards are lost and these credits will not be added to your
balance.[/li]
Just finished my RdR Ultime attempt and I was hoping for more
credits for the unused cards - the above indicate they can value
them much cheaper than we purchase them for.
VR approach seems to be "head we win, tails you loose" :(

How many credits did they award?
yes VR must be doing alright out of the thousands that join in
each race. Still they had the great idea of creating and
developing this platform from the early days of 60 mile squares
and winds which changed only twice a day.
Still it will be good to have a challenger to VR. Maybe that
could force them to rethink their charging.
On the Class 40 I spent less than the 2000 entry credits they
gave, so any credits for placing or return of cards will be
upside :-)

Stats:
I recently finished the RdR Multi-50, to buy the cards I
finished with, would have cost me 1,291 credits, the refund I
received was 275.
Maybe the refund is related to the cards I started out with?
Well at least they have made the Prog and WayPoints better
value, 1 card per course change.

I've assumed the refund is for the cards they give you at the
outset, not those bought - bit ean. I agree that charging just
one card per nav change is an improvement, and fairer.
