Well done B9, your routing was certainly better, I was around
13nm behind but have caught back a couple of miles.
The next challenge will be in around about 2.5days time when it
looks like we have to bridge between systems.
No hairy's (except 1 for me on the other game, lee shore / twa /
no nav cards and night time - I really must learn to turn twa
off !!
Next Volvo leg on Sunday and AO option is cheaper. Em

Yeah. - Is it those pesky down wind sails you have? they even
get deployed at 125 degrees. No - you're closer to the wind, I
think you're just in more wind than me. I think your route will
pay off in the end as you have better wind to the East.
Good luck and keep surfing.
Shame about the gadget hitting the rocks, hope it wasn't too
bad.

Low pressure off Virginia and associated band of low wind W-E.
I'm heading for a gap toward the coast which if successful will
leave a slog up wind to New York. Safer bet is to head further
off the coast and get a better angle into New York. Decisions
decisions....

Fortunately my grounding was fairly brief but in this tightly
bunched feet it cost lots of places.
How to negotiate the "New York low"? B9's inshore gap looks
tempting, but I'm at present inclined to go round the top of it
and approach the finish from the east. More discussion with the
navigator needed.
Must say B9 and LK are impressively well up the fleet again -
great sailing.

Hmm. I think you're right Gadget, after reviewing the forecast I
think I'll be there too late to take advantage of the inshore
route. Have altered course toward the east (and LK7). I guess
it's better than facing a headwind!
