Sails

I'm almost ready to go and just choosing options. What's your
view?
It would seem that a polish and pro winches will just increase
speed. Pro Winches claims to make manoeuvring faster - does
this mean that they've cut the 2 minute change of course penalty
or reduced it?
Boat Polish indicates better speed, but by how much? Nonetheless
when I'm in a drag race with a Frenchie (or anyone else) I'd
like to be on the best footing.
Sails are my real question. It would appear the heavy sails
kick in at 18 knots or so. So for this leg won't be used much
especially if you have a "reaching sail" or code 0. On the
other hand 200 credits is about a Euro so not a huge cost.
I still can't find a decent site which will tell me what the
polars are for the VOR sails. What are the sail
characteristics? You can go by the green indication on the
compass, but difficult to set a programmed course without good
polars.
Personalised boat and radio - what for? although it's nice to
see different course sailed colours (I don't think they should
charge for this option)
Options proposed for B9 - Winches, Light sails, Reaching Sail,
and a good polish.
Oh.. and no cards - only those I get gifted on the way!

Hi B9,
I totally understand your comments. I have selected light and
reaching sails plus radio. I will think about polish before a
long leg.
The radio option, lets me know by email (and txt?) if I’m
sailing with the wrong sails or going aground, not sure if I
will get other messages.
See you on the start line.

Yes, it's hard to know what to go for. I'm keeping it simple
for this leg, just light sails since it looks that sort of leg.
Still working out how to make best use of the cards and when to
invest my hard-earned credits in them. The most useful are
waypoints and programmers, to avoid getting out of my bunk for
night time course changes!
Good sailing everyone on this leg.
