Hi Skippers,

5 . . . . . . . . Huckleberry Finn (SO) . . . . . . . . . . . .
+1404.4nm
Well, having tightened a little to intercept Penquin and improve
my angle to the final turn only to be passed. For most of today
the difference has been less than 1nm between us and now B9 is
closing in.
I will keep battling on, there may yet be a hairy finish.
Sail well skippers, especially IG and HF - we are wishing you
guys on.

Gosh, really close up there, and good luck to all three of you
as you approach the finish. Whatever happens, you're in for very
respectable fleet positions. That final stretch up to Seattle
can certainly be tricky (I seem to recall that IG lost a few
places the last time we came this way), and a collection of
programme or way point cards will come in handy. Sadly, like
Penquin, IG has a surplus of useless ones, so we're hoping to
accumulate a few before we get there (but don't wait up!).
How are things where you are, Mike?

Today becomes the longest Clipper leg in terms of days at sea
for me in this edition. Leg 3 into Freemantle was 18d 1hr 56m
and Leg 7 at 17d 11 hrs 55m. I'm now at 18d 1h 24m.
I'm going to have to go the long way round this cape. Without
winches, I'm trying to avoid course changes and trying to avoid
downwind sails. - just in case anyone is wondering why I'm not
cutting in like those around me. I'm sure you're having your own
battles, but I felt the need to "share".

Here we go this is for who kisses Betty!!, manged to get my
required 3 cards hope that's enough. Its going to be an enormous
boat park at the end with no wind, getting over the line will
feel like an eternity with plenty of scope to loose plenty of
places right at the end, good luck everybody

Watching with interest. If you could all manage to run aground
for about three days that would really helpful!
