With my success with hairy's on this leg - I decided it was only
right to pass between the two island and sleep at the same time,
what could go wrong!
It looks as though my alternative route did not loose me too
many miles.
How's everyone else doing?

Hey, Em, your earlier change to go east has certainly paid off!
Great going. Hope you manage to avoid accumulating more Hairy
Trophy points.

Hi all I've been away from the forum for a while, steering both
pacific crossings from my mobile (but it's not great at
accessing the forum). Looks like most of the fleet slipped
between the Japanese Islands and now into the Pacific. The race
starts here.
So far my plans is to keep off the beach, but the traditional
route north look like it's not working. The sucessesion of lows
are rolling on a jet strean much further south than I remember.
It looks like most of the favourable winds are between 30 and 40
degrees north. Where as the great circle route is up above 50
degrees Mid pacific, and Seattle is quite far North (as I
remember from the times I've visited). I'd expect stronger winds
the further north you go but can't see anything on the 7 day
forecast.
So a more Southerly crossing looks on the cards to me.
Congratulations to Em on a great route so far, and looking good
in Pink - Is this the new LK livery for VR? or just for this
leg?

Thanks everyone - it was free colour with AO I must say, I do
feel like a bit of a cheat in having free cards, however, the
reduction in stress is certainly very welcome.
Navigating, the next phase of weather is going to tax my nav
skills. Sleep well, hopefully no grounding options overnight.

Having some difficulty working out the weather ahead and route
options. The north route looks well blocked by a succession of
lows, but further south the winds look quite light. Thinking
cap on for the navigator.
Hang in there Emma. LK is on fire (and I love the new livery
too).
