Here we go again. What plans do we have for this leg? I
thought the battle foils against sails last time was
interesting.
I could do the same again. Reaching sail and foils, but I'd
like to make a fair battle by using the same options. So I
thought I'd post this before completing set up. It looks like
the route is going to have a lot of upwind which really doesn't
help with foils.

Yes, the foils/sails comparison between B9 and IG on the last
leg was interesting, but I never did work out which option paid
in which wind strength/direction. I suppose foils have the
advantage in fresh winds abaft the beam, whereas the fuller sail
wardrobe is helpful in the light stuff. So I'll go again with
the sails options and see how it works out this time. The
history of this leg is a tough upwind slog, and it's shaping up
that way this time too!

OMG - They seem to have reduced the minimum Wind Speed to 2
Knots. That's going to be a very slow boat speed even on the
beam! Seriously avoid those areas. I wonder if this is just
pre-start forecasts, or they really will drop the speed.

2 knots would be very tedious. Let’s hope it’s just the
forecast.

Yes it looks like the minimum 4kt forecast as gone - I remember
back to the old system with RCLazer and I were in a 0kts grid
for a full 12hrs. Zzzzzz
As it’s a short leg I wasn’t prepared to pay for a Code 0 sail -
rather I’ve gone for a heavy set - no foils as I think for most
of the leg they won’t go active.
Great sailing everyone or probably in about 24hrs - great dozing
on deck.
