Hi Skippers,
IMPORTANT NOTE
FOR THOSE SKIPPERS WHO MISSED THE PREVIOUS POST, WE ARE GOING TO
TRY A HANDICAPPING SYSTEM, BASICALLY LESS THAN 3500 CREDITS
SPENT (INCLUDING VRs CONTRIBUTION) AND ABOVE.
Also, not sure if we want to continue with the Option info per
boat? Group name suggestions welcome ;-)

There was nobody more shocked than i when i realised both boats
had entered, I would have split tactics if id known, both boats
are under the spend, I had to kit out crikey bobs on the water
with some light sails.

Sail plan (L--/--p). My total spend was 2320 on Lightweight
Sails and a polish. Net spend therefore 720 points (after the
1600 credit you get for entry).
For future reference, is the 3500 limit Total spend or Net
spend? :)

Morning all from B9. A very split Britpack fleet. At the moment
the southern route has the advantage, but never count your
chickens - even with a 1000 mile lead.
Those to the north seem to have good speed at last. Say Aloha to
Hawaii when you swing by!
To the south we're looking at two lows which appear to have
stalled just to the north of the Intertropical Convergence Zone
(ITCZ). They are just starting to drift gently west. An
anticlockwise route, around the lows, looks full of promise and
wind (initially), but I fear will take us too far west and then
fighting a head-wind to get down to the equator. So we (and I
think the fleet) have decided to drop south of the low, east of
130 long, and get into the trades earlier with a better angle to
Tahiti.
So that's the Nav's plans form now, but as always subject to
change.
