Will this fix my underbite?
By: guest324 Date: January 15, 2018, 2:03 pm

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and I'm very glad I
stumbled across it! Having an underbite that I can't afford to
get "fixed," (I don't believe that's even the right word
anymore) by an orthodontist, I stayed up till 1 last night
reading every bit of information I could find about face pulling
on the web, seeing it as maybe an opportunity to fix my teeth
alignment naturally. To fill y'all in, I'm a sixteen year old
guy who has had misaligned teeth or jaw problems caused by
misaligned teeth ever since my adult teeth came in. I think my
maxilla is the problem and not my mandible because when I
actually try to get my teeth to fit together, my mandible gets
pushed back, causing a weak chin when my jaw bone is by no means
underdeveloped looking when it sits naturally in it's underbite
position, if that makes sense. I already ordered a mouth guard
off of Amazon to begin the pulling process (I've already done a
little bit with my thumbs and can already feel a decrease in
pressure in the joint area of my jaw), do you think I'll profit
from face pulling so that my maxilla will move forwards? I pray
that it does as this is my only hope left. I would do anything
to have teeth that would fit together naturally again, it would
honestly remove so much stress from my life. I can't hardly wait
until my mouth guard gets here. Thanks in advance for any
replies. :)

Just a heads up to everyone, my tablet auto-corrected the
spelling of my username ::) so this is my new account.

Start with light forces. People have damaged their teeth with
excessive facepulling. In the end, facepulling is only a
surrogate for proper anatomical function. If you are able to
maintain firm tongue posture, there should not be need to
facepull at all.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Does proper tongue position against
the roof of the mouth act like a pushing force against the
maxilla, encouraging proper development? That might have been
one of the causes of my problem because my tongue is usually
resting on the bottom part of my mouth instead of the top
palate.

That's correct, and yes improper tongue posture during
development is the root cause of most cases of teeth crowding,
jaw recession and other similar problems. If tongue posture is a
new concept to you, I suggest you check out Orthotropics
-youtube channel for more details. In short, you have to cram as
much of the tongue you can on the hard palate & soft palate with
a force that is sufficient enough to keep your skull upright.

I'll definitely check that YouTube channel out. One more thing,
do you think one pound of pressure is light enough to start
pulling with?
