Tongue Posture

I've heard that tongue posture in the back third is crucial, but
wouldn't that lift the face and not push things forward? For
cheekbones, should we also push the tongue forward, maybe by
pushing against the alveolar ridge?
How do we mimic devices and motion like headgear or those screws
in he mouth from that Korean example years ago?

Yep. I don't think it's possible to push strictly up. The tongue
does not need to mimic anything other than its natural function.
It's the headgear that is fundamentally trying to mimic the
tongue. Headgear and other appliances are just convenient ways
to generate sustained force towards the palate when the tongue
can't be relied on.
