I remember the author advocating clusters of 4 days in a row
followed by breaks. That was my plan in the first place, but I'm
just concerned about the possibile effects of treating one side
more than the other..
About pulling the balloon back, that's probably what I should
have done but in the moment I guess I was too eager :)

Betterbytheday, you do inflate in the turbinate but u insert the
cot as far back as u can first so u reach near enough the top
part of the throat, once your there and u know u are you then
inflate 3/4 times and the cot will first expand in the turbinate
n then pop out into the upper throat/sphenoid area, if the cot
is near the top throat first then wen u inflate its gauranteed
to pop out in the sphenoid area, this is why u need to feel n
know where ur top throat is by practicing first, i do this by
putting a q tip by itself up the turbinate a few times to know
where my upper throat is n ull knw its ur upper throat wen u
reach it, that way ull always know ur in the right position with
the cot before inflating it

OK so Ive given it my first try!. I managed to hit the lower and
upper turbinates on both sides (took about 6 tries each) I cant
get too deep though and I think the finger cot is just not long
enough to reach the back so I only inflated in the front and mid
section which is obviously not ideal but atleast I know what it
feels like. I had no cracks/ popping etc. maybe cause I was
resistant and a bit weary to inflate to heavy. I might do what
angelo did and get some latex rubber gloves and snip the fingers
off. the cot really irritated my sinuses and turbinates which
are very sensitive so I might need some more water or some lube.
Overall not a bad experience :)

Betterbyday: so you just used just water instead of a proper
lube? I know it's mentioned as an option in the guide, but since
we're both beginners the cots will touch our turbinats alot
more than they would in an expert... I strongly suggest you get
a proper lube. Anything oily / fatty should be okay, even butter
:)
As for the cots being too short... Might be, but it might also
be that you haven't reached the sweet spot yet! As you can read
in my day 3, with too much pushing the fingers have even been
too long.

Inflating heavy definitely feels quite scary at first. I
switched to latex glove middle fingers after the first session
as I felt like the medium sized finger cots were too short.
Turns out I just wasn't inflating enough. The cots stretch quite
a lot lengthwise when you pump enough air into them inside the
nose. I don't think bone fractures are a real concern when using
only one cot. The cot will either explode or push into your
throat before any bone gives up.
The sinuses seem to get less sensitive as you build "tolerance"
to having stuff deep inside them. My nose was clogged for whole
night after the first treatment, whereas third treatment didn't
result in much excess mucus or sinus sensitivity.
Has anyone been having aches after doing NCR? For the last
couple of nights I've been waking up to very achy
maxilla/sphenoid area. I sleep on my side with half of my face
towards the pillow, so perhaps that has something to do with it.
Turning to other side makes the pain subside in a couple of
minutes and then it doesn't return for the rest of the night.
After treating for three days in a row I think I'm going to take
a break for the rest of the week. Or at least until the aches go
away.

Yeah I just used water ;D I will invest in some lube. And I
think I maybe tying the balloon too far back on the sphygo bulb
made it alot shorter. Ill see how next time goes

Progress:
I haven't experienced such strong sensations yet... I should try
using some more pressure on the sphenoid next time.
Also, do you feel some difference when using a latex glove vs a
finger cot?

Started the same day as you. I spent two first sessions
inflating in two turbinates on both sides and getting familiar
with the process, and third session treating all three
turbinates on the left side, like the alternating method
described in the guide.
It's difficult to say anything about differences because my
technique is still so inconsistent. For sake of speculation, my
latex gloves seem to be a bit thinner than the cots, which
should mean that the cots can withstand more pressure inside the
turbines / against the sphenoid before expanding into the
throat. The thinner the material, the less pressure is needed to
make it stretch lengthwise instead of providing three
dimensional pressure against the facial bones.

So maybe I should actually get some finger cots instead of
settling with latex gloves, since those could provide a stronger
push to the target..
Also, I just realized that since I had a quite clogged nose some
weeks ago due to the cold and it's still not completely gone, my
turbinates are probably still a little swollen.... I may try a
vasoconstrictor such as Naphazoline and see if it gets easier,
although it would not be a long term option.

Tried again today with another finger cot, pushed as far back as
I could.
Inflated couple of times each side of the nose and pretty sure
Ive hit the sphenoid. When inflating it feels very uncomfortable
(like someone is pouring a fizzy drink down my nose) Didn't feel
anything besides some minor pain and discomfort. When inflating,
the cot always inflates at the front rather than the back so
when in the nose theres always more expansion in the turbinate
area rather than the back / top of throat.
Also Is there a rythm to follow?, Do I inflate then deflate
several times or Do I just carry on till its unbearable and im
almost chocking then stop and deflate? I feel like I want to
inflate more but I'm scared to do so.
