       Face Pulling technique
By: brownpanther Date: October 11, 2016, 9:23 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Hello everyone,
I am new to face pulling and just like everyone else, I am
trying to be the best version of me. I have read through
majority of the posts on this topic but I still had a few
questions. I understand that face pulling uses the anchoring of
the teeth and I can not afford to go out and buy a special
retainer for this but I do have a retainer from my Invisalign. I
was wondering if I put the retainer on, use fingers on my teeth,
and pull upward and forward, will I get the same results? I do
not know if anybody has tried this but I didn't want to do it if
people had bad experiences doing it this way. I also was
thinking I could put my thumbs on my palate, near my back
molars, and pull upward and forward. Would that also work? Which
one would be more effective? If anybody has done either of these
with success, please let me and everybody else know.

People have had results with using their thumbs, mouthguards
tied to sholeaces, even biting on belts and towels. It doesn't
matter much what you pull with, but the crucial part seems to be
pairing it with NCR or other methods that loosen the maxilla and
allow it to come forward in the first place.

What techniques besides NCR is there to loosen the maxilla?

       I'm Currently I'm using a belt for face-pulling, and I've been
the " classic" method of the hockey mask before. I get results
from both. I'm not sure which one gives more results, since
somehow I get so used to my new look that I almost forgot what
my starting position was half a year ago! I have made pictures,
but these changes are things that are not always seen so easily
       in pictures.
The last few days i seem to get more results with a slightly
altered version of belt-facepulling. What I do is , while biting
on the belt, pull repeatedly upwards, forward, upward forward
etc...Like 10 times or so..Pretty much as hard as I can can.
With each pull, I hear the cracking sound (cracking sound is
good)...and after i've done this, I put my thumb in my mouth and
push upwards with power. Then i hear alot of cracking sounds
too. After i've pushed upwards in my mouth for a few seconds,
pushing upwards does no longer give the cracking sound. This
makes me assume that the maxilla is not loose anymore, but like
'fully connected' again into a stable position. The interesting
thing I find about this sort of cracking sound, is that it
really does not give any sensation of pain whatsoever (I tell
this for those who think such sound may be a bad indicator)
When I just pull upwards with my thumb in my mouth, without
loosening up the maxilla with the belt, there is not much
cracking sound at all. I think because the maxilla is not loose
at that moment, its harder to re position it. This really might
be the key to re-positioning the maxilla. I use this method like
       5-10 times a day
I'm curious if others also will experience more results with
this method, so feel free to try..! ;)
       Greets,
       Ryan

Thanks Ryan, that is an interesting technique that I'll have to
try. Currently I use my thumbs to do it and my jaw feels a
little bit loose more afterwards but I rarely get the cracking
sound. I'll definitely try your technique to loosen up my
maxilla before I use my thumbs. Do you sometimes notice the next
morning that your jaw starts to feel a little right and starts
crackling? I don't if this is something to be concerned about,
if I'm doing something wrong, or my tmj acting up?

You are saying you have TMJ...So i would use that as an
indicator of whether you're doing it good or not. Did you notice
an increase in TMJ complaints or not?
I do not have a stiff feeling in the morning. Feeling a little
'right'"? Sorry, i do not understand that. I'm no native english
speaker..what does feeling a little right mean?

Ryan: I meant to say a little tight. I tend to see if I am doing
my facepulling right depending how my jaw feels. Sometimes after
I facepull, I open my mouth wide to see if jaw makes a cracking
sound or not. Sometimes it feels tight and cracks while other
times it feels nice and loose. For some reason I haven't been
able to do it right. If I even slight pull in the wrong
direction then I tend to hear the cracking noises afterwards.

       Hey Ryan,
How do you know if you are pulling straight? Without looking in
the mirror, if I pull what I periceve to be straight, i tending
to get cracking in my jaw but when I look in the mirror and
pulling Straight, from my perspective it look like I'm pulling
left. Do you know what I mean? It's just weird and I didn't want
to be doing things wrong. When it feels like I'm pulling more
left, my jaw does feel better but I don't want to end up pulling
my maxilla and my jaw left.

hi,i've been using the belt facepulling technique where you
fasten the belt to a pull up bar and then lean back and use your
bodyweight as the pulling force but after a couple of weeks the
left side of my neck was starting to hurt so i wrapped a sweater
around my neck while doing it and the pain went away but now i
feel the tip of my index finger of my left arm a little numb
which i think comes from my neck..has anyone else experienced
       anything similar?
