       Reverse pull headgear

       I've started wearing reverse pull headgear with my palate
       expander in a hope to bring my palate forward, but I'm feeling a
       backwards force on the chin. I know on the page about face
       pulling with a hockey helmet you have to push the helmet away
       with your hand so it's just affecting the upper palate, but I
       don't think it's practical to do that over long periods of time.
       Any advice?

       Yes, I've stopped using my reserve-pull headgear because it
       pushes your jaw downwards. and using the hockey helmet is kind
       of annoying. So I will wait until I can design something that
       could hold my headgear from pushing my chin

       I thought I was feeling negative effects from it, such a shame
       as I thought I could fully start treatment! It feels okay when I
       use my had to push it away so i guess I'll just have to face
       pull for a small amount every day, but I won't expect great
       results from that as I think it needs to be constant light
       pulling. Have you got any ideas for your design improvement?

       There's a thread on this site, where a few users tried a
       mouthguard and a shoelace.  They got a moldable mouthguard,
       (think Amazon sells), punched holes in it to thread the shoelace
       through, inserted over teeth, and proceeded to pull the laces
       upwards/forwards with their hands.  They posted a photo of it
       on,  'What are people's face pulling experiences?'  thread.
       Looks like there's no force on the chin or forehead.  But,  I
       wonder if having something over the teeth would mess up the
       bite...Maybe if it's only done a few mins at a time, it's ok :-\

       Yes, but I want something to wear at least 8 hours a day. I used
       to pull with a mouthguard a long time ago and It didn't show
       results in the first month so I stopped

       Yeah, maybe a thing around my neck with a little rod to push
       against the headgear
       And also find a dental lab to make this appliance

       Yeah I'm the same as improvement, I want to wear something for
       long periods of time. I used to use that method and I did feel
       positive effects from it but I think it needs to be replicated
       over longer periods of time.
       That's a good idea with the rod thing, saves designing a
       completely new piece, just take the previous idea of reverse
       pull headgear and change it slightly.
       With the retainer its got no coverage of the teeth, do you thing
       it matters I'm pulling with my palate expander?

       Yea it matters, because the pressure can move your teeth.But if
       you plan to have braces later it's not a big deal

       Improvement I would definitely like braces when I'm older, plus
       professional treatment for my TMJ if I have the money. I'm
       trying to incorporate long term face pulling into my routine, as
       the experiments I've seen with results face pull for long
       periods at a time. My reverse pull headgear works but only if I
       hold it a certain way. I want something I can use overnight. I'm
       thinking of getting a facebow as I couldn't have to hold it, but
       I'm unsure how it works. Anyone have any idea?

       The facebow looks like a torture device; I'm not familiar with
       that, but it seems to be highly uncomfortable
       I'm against using devices overnight, I think that spoiling your
       sleep day after day is one of the worst things you could do to
       yourself
