Wrap cotton or dental floss around it lots of times really tight

Do i then need to tie the floss in a knot or just leave it
wrapped around tight?

Cheers guys! ive completed one series already here in the UK but
ther arent many practitioners around, in fact just 2 here and i
cant afford the monies to keep going so attempting self NCR
instead, am not going to explode the balloon through the
turbinates but rather slower as Bstratt has said, cheers.

I was hoping to go pretty intensively for about a month to build
momentum, and then maybe take a break before resuming shorter
rounds of consistent treatment, maybe about a week at a time.
That being said, my work has been really busy lately, so I've
missed a couple days here and there. I missed yesterday, but
completed my 14th session today. I decided to try the smallest
size finger cot in my assorted box today. It gave a different
sensation as I was still able to reach the nasopharynx through
every meatus, but the shorter balloon put more pressure toward
the front of my face and the sides rather than back into my head
or down my throat. I got more shifting sensation through the
ethmoid, zygomatic, and maxillary bones as compared to the
sphenoid, frontal, and temporal bones that I had been feeling
during earlier sessions. This is just my impression, but it
seems to me that (once you master the technique) using a variety
of finger cot sizes for different sessions might be more
effective than using just one to generate tectonic shifts along
different fault lines. A medium size is probably best for me but
I think I'll use a small or large size occasionally.

I tie the finger cot on with a knot on one side of my piece of
dental floss then wrap about a dozen times or more and then tie
the loose end on to the end sticking out from the first knot. I
think the important part is wrapping many times and then
securing it. When I first started, I was having trouble with air
leaking because I was just tying a couple knots rather than
wrapping.

Do you mean knot as in tying a shoelace knot? because in Bens
intructions it just says to wrap about 30 times and that should
do it?

Like I said, I think the important part is the wrapping to
achieve a good seal. I just tie a little knot (not a bow like a
shoelace) to make sure it is secured in place while I wrap it
and then another knot at the end to ensure that it doesn't come
unwrapped. This probably isn't necessary, and it usually means I
have to cut the floss off the sphygmomanometer bulb valve with
small scissors when I want to remove the finger cot. Just
wrapping might be easier as long as it stays in place. Waxed
floss might hold together better than the plastic floss I have.
Do whatever works for you.

Day 15: Today I used a medium finger cot, standing up, and
treated only the right side. I'm going to try to reuse this
finger cot for a few days because this size seemed to be good at
expanding across the nasopharynx without going down into the
oropharynx. To monitor the slight deviation of the bridge of my
nose, I've been holding a thin, metal ruler up vertically along
either side of my nose. On the left side, the bridge of my nose
touches the ruler. On the right side, the bridge of my nose bows
away from the ruler and there is a space between. I can't say
for sure that I see any difference from when I started, but
maybe slightly.

I've never had professional treatments, so it is hard for me to
say how my self treatments compare. It's definitely worth
trying. I'd just encourage you to be patient because there's
sure to be a learning curve, but you might catch on quickly if
you know how it is supposed to feel. Good luck!
