QuantumLookMaxer, I think if you can afford it, definitely.
After experimenting with self treatment, I would like to change
what I said about it being better than paying more for
professional treatment; in my situation it is better as it is
currently more than I can afford. But with the professional
option, even though in some cases I think the patient has done
more researching, I think they have the experience that we as
individuals lack. So yes I think if you have the chance go with
the homeoblock- it has proven results.
I suppose you could get the best of both worlds by buying the
palate expander online and meeting with a professional though.

Cool, thanks for the advice. I'm weary and resistant about
putting my money towards practitioners too. The possibility of
throwing $4,000 down the drain would be a very tough pill for me
to swallow. However, this self-treatment thing hasn't been
working out as well as I'd hoped it would (i'm dealing with
sleep apnea type symptoms). Hopefully, homeoblock with a good
practitioner will help though.

I can understand, I'm a student so it's highly unlikely I will
be able to afford it! I feel the same way and it's so
frustrating, as I know what needs to be done I just don't have
the money to do it. I keep looking at my own photographic
evidence and the results of others (e.g CPs blog) and that
encourages me to think positively, knowing that there can be
improvements.
Yes I definitely think it will help, just remember to combine it
with something that treats the cause also (like myofunctional
therapy). I will definitely be having professional treatment
when I'm older, but perhaps the expander I've bought will be
useful in the meantime or even when I start professional
treatment.

Hi, well the self ncr is working for me, i heard cracks and
slight thuds the other night and so now letting my face and
sutures rest up, being honest i was going to buy the Homeoblock
bt was told by 2 practioners of it not to waste your monies as
they didnt rate it at all, your face will change for the better
simply from myofunctional practices ie mewing n tongue on the
roof bt these changes occur over years and not months on adults
bt will change, speeded up i believe by pulling and ncr bt even
without pulling and ncr these changes will happen from mewing
albeit very very slowly.

Thanks for your reply Allnicc12, I havent been doing it recently
but I'm going to get back to it. I haven't read up on the
homeoblock but I know with ALF the few people who have used it
have had good results,
HTML http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=38460&start=15<br
/>someone on the link says their mouth expand from 30mm to 43
mm.
I think yes myofunctional changes will work but it's good to
have an appliance to make those changes faster, then the oral
posture changes to maintain them.
What i don't understand is that my molar width is roughly 33mm.
How can it be so small when I haven't had any extractions?

MJON, only answer i think to that wouldve been tongue posture
etc whilst growing up in particular around 4 or 5 yrs old, i was
always getting told by my parents to eat with my mouth closed
etc from a very early age and as such my mouth remained closed
anyway, my intermolar width of upper arch is 41mm which is fine
width wise bt am after more forward projection which pulling and
self ncr will help with, i dont think tooth extractions are the
be all and end all though of arch width since youve had no
extractions and 33mm whereas ive had 2 extractions, 1 wisdom n
2nd molar on right bottom and am still 41mm top and 33 bottom,
reason i believe it hasnt been effected much is because my
posture is good and always has been from early age, ALF and
Damon i think will benefit you as will ncr will, you wont revert
back in width from ncr or from extractions longs your posture n
function is good including the back of the tongue agaisnt
pallett

Hello, may I ask how is your progress MJON?
I too am interested in buying the upper plate from the German
eshop. I think, since it's a JAW plate, not a palatal expander,
it could possibly expand the whole upper jaw and thus make the
WHOLE HEAD bigger. That would make a ton of difference in looks.
I'm a bit uncertain though, I currently have fixed braces, which
are supposed to get off within few months. I would like to get
it made sooner than that, due to the lenght of processing time.
Do you think it would be possible to make impressions while
wearing braces? I watched the instructational video and I'm not
sure - does the mass harden completely during the 5 minutes in
mouth, or is it the water that makes it tough?

Doumi, I've put treatment on hold because I'm in uni now. Having
said that, I recently had a passport picture taken, and the
difference between this year and last year is quite noticeable
(as my boyfriend said "your face has gotten wider", and we know
that's a good thing!). So yes there's improvement just not as
rapid as I hoped, but I suppose it tools years for my skull to
get like this so it could take years for it to be corrected
without proper professional intervention.
I'm planning on saving up for ALF treatment as I think this is
most suitable for me, but in the mean time start NCR again (it
doesn't cost much and there's no harm in trying until then). As
far face pulling, I'm planning on starting that when I have a
helmet that 100% is doing the right function, as I think it's
that part that can do more harm than good if done incorrectly.
Check out facepulling.com for the design- I will be using my
palate expander for this.
I don't think it's wise to do the impressions with braces as
they will most definitely show up and alter the end product.
Also I started using the palate expander, but because I didn't
have a set routine I struggled to know when I was improving, so
stopped for now. I definitely feel like my jaw is tightening up
very slowly, so I think whilst we have treatment we all need to
look at the cause rather than just a cure, be it getting a
tongue tie fixed or myofunctional therapy.

Thank you for your answer!
Yes, wider face is always a good thing. I actually think that
the width of the face/skull is the most important factor in the
terms of beauty. If someone's maxilla is down and back, but is
wide enough, the person can still have a beautiful face I
believe. It's also much easier to widen the jaw than to move up
or forward.
I suppose I should wait with the impressions then. I don't want
to spend so much money on this if it might not be done correctly
just because of my impatience.
I'm also a bit confused why do they require VAT registration
number for people living in EU countries when the VAT is already
included in the price and the braces aren't sold for medical
purposes anyway? Why does an European have to be an entrepreneur
or own a company to be able to order from their shop? It makes
it a bit difficult for me to get the bracces now. Can I ask, in
the case you live in EU, how did you handle this? Have you
ordered on someone else's name?

Hi MJON, i am also currently trying to build that hockey helmet
facepulling helmet but stuck on which retainer to get since i
dont use them, they sell them on the site u provided the link to
so ill have a pick, ALF is also something am looking at and ive
spoke to one dentists who refused to give me one because
apparently it does widen arches in adults! obviously we know it
does or it should so u really need to find a dentist that
subscribes to the notion that bone forms in adults as well as
children otherwise they wont give it, am making appt with
another dentist who provides it and ive been qouted bout a grand
in total for it, self NCR and mewing ( which does wrk btw )
which am quite good at now and building platos helmet is what
ill do for now til i manage to get the ALF Appliance
