W- the appliance is quite bulky but I suppose it has to be to
cover the entire palate and not just affect the teeth, unless
like you said you use the ALF. I'm its actually helping my
tongue posture as I have to keep my tongue up whilst wearing the
expander, so when I taje it out my tongue is in the correct
       position naturally.
Thank you, I'm not in need of implants or anything so I'm hoping
       improvement is much more likely.
Improvement, it took me about a month to get it, and it was
expensive for me as I'm a student but so much cheaper than
       orthos would have offered!

Yea but I need to think about it first. I'll try asking how much
an ortho would charge here. Maybe I can find it cheaper because
orthos are not that expensive in my city, I bought my braces for
80$ so I hope to get an expander around that price ;D

What happens to the lower dental arch, when you have an upper
       palate expander?
Does the lower widen by itself, to meet the upper arch? Or, do
you need a lower expander, too? Would the upper arch, go outside
of the lower arch, if you see what I mean?

W in CPs blog he takes about how when you expand the upper jaw
the lower jaw comes forward to match. He said sometimes his bit
was off but then the jaw always came forward to match. He said
he also managed to expand the lower jae even though there is no
suture there. It's a good read and has photographs as proof.
So to answer your question, no it doesn't expand by itself but
it does come forward to match I think.

The lower arch doesn't need to be the same size as the upper,
but in some cases you need to expand the lower as well depending
       on their difference

Thanks for your replies, both. Much appreciated! It would be
much cheaper to only need an upper expander.
That said, I have a mild overbite and my lower front teeth are
crowded, despite having 4 pre-molars extracted for braces, when
I was a teen. (Huge regret. Did nothing for me, except take my
healthy teeth!). I was worried that the upper palate would
become more 'C' shaped following expansion, but the lower would
still be narrow and inside the 'C'.

W I'm not an expert but yes I think you will need expansion on
the lower jaw if its not the correct shape, but make sure you
get the upper jaw right just before to allow the lower into the
       right position first.

If you had 4 premolars extracted you need to undergo the same
       procedure as CP did
Expanding only the upper arch alone won't work

wow that palate expander is amazing. I think I'm about to go
with homeoblock though. You guys think its worth the 10-15x
price over the online order palate expander?
