THE GIVER: FINAL QUESTIONS
By: Mayorcitobookworm Date: February 28, 2016, 9:56 am

[size=12pt][font=verdana]We get to the the end of The Giver, a
marvellous book that transports us to a totally different world
and while it is a fiction story, it develops themes that may be
closely related to today's society.
By the end of the book Jonas runs away. However, although most
of the memories have left him, the feelings have not.[b]Why do
you think that is?
How do you think the story ends? Would you like to see the
ending more spelled out? Why or why not?
spelled out: in detail

- I think this happens because when the giver gave him all those
memories about the world, they included the feelings that he had
never felt before. It means that he has learnt to feel, and it,
as the memories can, can't be forgotten or can left him.
- I would like to read more details at the final part of the
story. What will happen with Jonas and Gabriel? Will the
community get all memories that left Jonas? What about the
giver? Will he know how explain to the community about those
memories? I have more questions that I would like that the end
of this book answer me, but it was not the situation.

Well, I suppose that Jonas´ after getting the world memories,
among they, the love, the happiness, the sadness, in others
words the feeling, these conform part from he, so it is in
everyone of his act, even after losing it.
On the other hand, in the end of story although sample some
ideas, the autor of this book use a literary technique with the
name of "Open ending", the which permit free interpretations
from the reader, opposite case could limited the imagination,
such as, impede a profound analysis and the appreciation of
this. Then, by these reason I think that not is necessary see
the ending more spelled out.
In the same way, regarding to ending of story, according to my
view, Jonas´ after of be outside the limit of his community he
found a place very different from where he had lived, but
simultaneously very similar to his memoirs that the Giver had
transmitted to him. A new place with freedom for express emotion
and feelings, such as: the love and friendship in family,
celebrate with happiness the come from a newborn, among others,
but on all, have the possibility of to make mistakes as any
human being. In this context, I think that Jonas´ leaving his
memories he gave to his community the opportunity of experiment
the feeling, also of understand him.

The reason could be that Jones when receive the memories
together the feeling, they not only stay in his mind but also in
his heart, where it is difficult to forget. Therefore when he
give his memories to Gabriel. Jones never forget the feeling
together to the family and friends.
On the other hand, the end of the story is with a finally open,
because this book is a part of all the serie of books of Lowry.
However for the last part where say that he listen music I think
that he found a place where the thing are as our world.
Yes because I have a lot of question about the end such as What
happened with Gabriel and Jonas? What happened with the Jonas's
community? Jonas will search something to change his community?
And a lot of more. Therefore I prefer a end more spelled out. ;)

-I think that the feelings and emopciones remain forever, as
happens to us, we can forget many things, but the emotions do
not.
-The story ends with an open ending, leaving that imagine what
will happen with Jonas and Gabriel. I think they seek help from
the people to liberate their community of that lifestyle. Yes, I
would like to know more, because this causes me great curiosity.
??? ::)

I think the memories still remain within it, because even when
he left of the community, although these were esparcidos, will
still reminding you because he already been experienced such
feelings in each memory that the giver gives to Jonas and can
not ever forget.
However, I remain haunted by some points that are not clarified
in the work, the giver How will help to the community to
controlled with so many feelings acquired?. Jonas and Gabrie,
what will happen with they? They will find another city similar
to the previous? they will return for the giver?
:-[ >:( >:( ??? ???

Judith Wright mentioned "the feelings and emotions are the
universal language that must be honored. Are the authentic
expression of who we are" I agree with the phrase, and I think
Jonas has not stopped feeling because I now had an identity,
which was denied in the community, they were all "equal", no one
could manifest itself as it really was, so that left mold under
the rules and laws, but Jonas no, he led was by his heart and
according to Friedrich Nietzsche-" everything is done for love
It is beyond good and evil". And Jonas loved truth.
I think that the story ends with an open end, because it creates
in the reader in suspense and intrigue and invites you to
continue with the trilogy to which belongs of Lois Lowry's "The
Giver".
Clear that I would have liked to make the final closer, because
it leaves me a vacuum and much intrigue, I want to know where
came Jonas and what happened with the community.

I think that the feelings don't leave him because the giver
explained him about this feelings. every feeling has a concept,
the same that Jonas remained every time. Though the memories
were forgotten, this feelings were kept. ;)
This story has a open ending, I would know more abou the destiny
of Gabriel an Jonas, what happened when they go into the house
maybe, o if they go into the house an explain to the others
about their comunity. It is intriguing, really I need a second
part. :o

- The memories are as simple imagines that for a large or short
time can keep in our mind, and we run the risk to lose them at
any moment; however, the feelings are an attribute of the begin
humans and these are left to forever.
- I'm not satisfied with the end, because I was eager to know
what would happen with Jonas and Gabriel. The history is very
interesting and it has a great touch of science and fiction, so,
I imagined a lot of stories to the end, but is difficult keep
one of these. I would like very much that there was a second
part, which explain whether Jonas and Gabe survive.

I think in the end Jonas find people who have not been affected
by these new scientific advances and still retain memories and
feelings about past life. I think Jonas stay a while with them
and make their own memories, and then return to where she lived
and try to convince people to stop that kind of life .... ::)
And I would have liked to see a more detailed end why not if
what they saw was real or an illusion. ???
