CHAPTER 5: THE STIRRINGS

The morning ritual for Jonas' family was the telling of dreams.
One night Jonas dreams that He wanted to get Fiona into the
bathtub and bathe her. His mother explains to him that this
meant the first signs of the "Stirrings" and the treatment was
to take pills.
This chapter refers to Stirrings, which is most likely the
beginning of puberty, another touchy subject for teenagers.
Jonas begins taking a pill to make the Stirrings stop. Why do
you think this society controls this issue?[/b][/font]

;D :D :-* I think that it is because the rules of the
community are very strict with the relations between a man and a
woman. Because according to the book, the familiar units are
formed based in stability of the society, but not in love.
Also, the people could begin to take more interest in the
sexuality, what is negative to a society based in the
convenience of the community like group, but no like
individuals. I suppose that the elderlies want the other ones
don't feel the typical characteristics of the stirrings, because
this could provoque revolt and uprising against them, because in
this period, the teenagers begin to think about their future
and plans, this could provoke an instability in the method for
appoint the mision of the young.

I think that the community where Jonas and his family lives is a
place where the rules are very strict, organized and impossible
to broke (well, not all of them), and for that, all of its
members should to respect them as a code of life. That is the
reason for the Stirrings are remediated through pills, as they
are something like a disease or a bad influence for the kids.
Maybe the community think that the Stirrings are something bad
for the develop of his kids, a prejudice for the same society or
a rule that should not be broke, as a threat for the community
and his organization.

I thing that community control this issues because as they lives
under very strict rules, they can not permit that its breaks and
that can happen only if the Citizens live as scheduled incapable
of feeling any emotion or be able to feel compassion for every
being that is "liberated " people. With that control we can
imagine that they just want to keep stability in the society but
with any kind of feelings. Apparently they fear that if they
feel different things like love can act very differently from
conventional and break the rules of the community.

We know that in the Jonasīs Community, parents receive their
children by a committee, they should make procedures and the
Board evaluates its situation or deny access. Then it summarizes
that couples have no intimate relationship such as sexuality.
::) :o
Knowing this, I can deduce that the Council of Elders provides
those pills to eliminate feelings and emotions about the
phenomenon of sexuality. In this community control much the
birth rate and a disorder, for them, it may mean the end of his
passive world. It is noteworthy that in one of the lines
mentioned that a family cannot have more than two children ...
personally, this fact would be helpful in our society, but of
course, parents would have biological children :-* :P ;D

Well, I consider that as Jonaīs community haven't got feelings
or sensations; the committee are looking a mode to stop it
anyway. For example, the Stittings, which means the beginning of
puberty, guys may begin to feel attracted by their peers of the
opposite sex. And so more feelings of that kind could begin to
emerge, pulling out of the control of the committee. So to avoid
such situations, the committee adopted the measure to stop these
Stirrings and so avoid those types of sexual feelings that they
consider dangerous to the orderly way of life that they have.

Well, I think that the community is very strict whit its rules,
because it search the stability in all the aspects, such as the
family conformed for a mother and father with a couple of
childrens, the same way with the case of the Stirrings, because
the community is thinking in create the familiar units of a
stable way for avoid that the choice of the commom people thats
wrong. Finally, the pills to Stirrings stop this feel for avoid
possible mistakes.

I think that the Jonas's community controls this issue because
they have strict rules, where the family is conformed for a
decision of the elders and thus achieve a solid family unit,
from their point of view. Therefore when the child start to grow
and they beginning to feel the so-called "Stirrings", a emotion
similar to the love (emotion prohibited by community) and this
will be controlled with a pill and this way create the best
society according to them. :-\

the rules in a society are very complex and strict all who dwell
in it. if there were no rules or control order would not exist.
when people reach puberty begin to have a hormonal and
psychological changes. people begin to take more interest in
love, sexuality and independence. That's where parents begin to
have more control on them because they do not want to cause, in
them a sense of instability or uprisings against what is
particularly good or bad. Because at this stage arises in
adolesentes new ideas, they think more about tomorrow and what
will develop in the future. so I think that society takes main
interest in this topic. :P :)

It is really strange. I think that in this community everything
is programmed (in fact it is like that), nothing can leave of
control. Everything has to be as they plan it. It is for it that
when some adolescent experiences some Stirrings, they control it
with the tablets so that this one disappears. In such a way that
they do not run the risk that the adolescents allow to take for
its desire or feeling and do not lose the control of the
society.
