       Seventh Chords

A chord is typically three or more notes sounded/played
simultaneously. The simplest kind of chord is called a triad
(three) and is made up of three notes. When you add a fourth
note to a simple chord or triad, it becomes a seventh chord.
Here are four types of seventh chords: major seventh (Cmaj7),
       minor seventh (Cmin7), dominant seventh (C7), half-diminished
       seventh (Cm7b5).
Here are some examples of common seventh chords and the notes
       they contain:
       Cmaj7: C-E-G-B
       Dmin7: D-F-A-C
       G7: G-B-D-F
       Am7b5: A-C-Eb-G
       E7: E-G#-B-D
*Remember that chords are built in thirds. Start with the root
(1), add a third above that (3rd), add a third above that (5th),
add a third above that (7th).
