Week 7 has been posted! (See it here
HTML http://boh.createaforum.com/rediscovering-df/play-through-quest-assignments-rediscover-df/msg9463/#msg9463.)<br
/>Only a couple of hours late (as in, not on a Sunday) this week
.
Improvement on my end!
Some housekeeping this week. Keep in mind I'm making this up as
I go along.
Regarding gathering Elemental Essences, we do need them before
we can start the Lymcrest chain, which probably won't be for a
couple weeks. So it'll be on the quest assignments until that
happens, but I wanted to give you guys time to get them so that
we aren't doing a ton of farming one week beforehand. So no
pressure to do it all in one shot, but if you have the time and
motivation, go ahead.
This week's discussion question, since we are all veteran DF
players, is:
What is your earliest memory of a Dragonfable war?

Earliest memory of a war? I never actually payed much attention
to wars when I was a lower-leveled player. I think I remember
something about Zardbies...which would be Mogloween.
It's odd going back and seeing early Sepulchure, and knowing how
everything turned out. Still, good to play through all of the
old war cutscenes.
Fighting Bassault (recommended level 20) with a level 11 does
not go well! I did it with a lot of luck xD.
Poor Twilly, never getting recognized as the hero they truly
are!
Remember to do all the talking options at Willowshire, they gave
me some laughs.

Earliest memory of wars was the Beach War. One of the longest
and slowest wars in DF history really. Though I do remember the
end of the Irismancer war as well since I had somehow fought the
war boss way back then.
Twilly will never be recognized as a hero because he's so
puntable :P

My earliest memory of a war would probably be the Final 13th.
It's the first war in which I actually defeated waves (around a
hundred of them), and that was only because I wanted the War
Wolf Pet. I remember logging in every day to see what progress
the warmongers made without really participating actively. That
didn't happen until the 13th 13th.
I think my character was created when the older wars happened,
but I somehow wasn't around. It would've probably been fun to
fight in Wrath of Xan and see the town slowly being destroyed.

My first war was the Book 1 Ravenloss War. I was juggling war
waves in between college classes and homework. It took me up to
the very last day of the war, but I got 1001 waves. I'd really
wanted the Warmonger Scythe, so I pushed myself until I'd gotten
it.

My very first war memory?
I think it was a Friday the 13th war (Amityvale IIRC)
I remember beating up Lord Frydae! :P
Also useful tip for anyone training their dragon: Go to book 3
first to get the new skills, it will be a lot easier! ;)

It's still Sunday where I am. It's not late...
See Week 8's posting here

And I have a confession to make. Right now, due to RL, I have
been making the quest assignments based off of your guys
feedback and the DF Pedia. I haven't been playing the quest
assignments myself. My days are starting to open up again, so
I'm hoping over the next couple weeks to put more attention to
it. So hopefully over the next couple weeks I'll get a chance to
play through and maybe make some changes to past quest
assignments so that they flow better and make sure they are
level-appropriate.
I am sorry about the confusion, but hopefully things will smooth
out over the next couple weeks (which will also hopefully see
the release of the catch-up thread, if all goes well!).

Hmm... I think I remember fuddling around with that first undead
war although I am forgetting now if the Beta had opened to free
players by then (I never had Guardianship up until pay cards
appeared in corner store shops around where my Terran analog
lived since I had no bank card (2009/2008 ish off the top of my
head). I was ready to send money in an envelope but Demento said
in 2003 or something that money through the post was probably
going to be ''lost'' or stolen Q.Q) but that Undead war itself
did not feel like much of anything special, likely due to being
the very first one with the most basic mechanic, which I think
contributes to my memory being hazy about it.
Memories about the Xan Wrath War are very vivid though. I
imagine that has to do with the awesome mechanic, yet terrible,
at the time that we were seeing the town progressively
disintegrate under the assault of Xan's countless foot soldiers
and that bar that was going down and somewhat ticking down doom.
For some far, pre-warmonger years, I fought the waves like crazy
for that one and given that waves for that war had a total of 15
mob groups that was something for that time. The Helm of 300
flames and 301st knight cape were special trophies.

I joined right at the first Frostscythe war.
I do remember Wrath of Xan, but I had the week before taken like
6 tries to defeat the Bassault in the River of Fire quest, so I
knew I'd be okay, having done it before. I forgot how tough
those things are.

I'd forgotten the earlier quests of meeting Thursday... Still,
looks like we're shaping up well on starting the quests to the
orbs! Are we going to do pirates first, then ninjas, or do them
both simultaneously?
