Some of you were kind of discussing this, which inspired this
week's question:
What are you finding the most challenging at the beginning of
the game?
For example, is it being at a lower level? Struggling with gold?
Equipment shortage? Or is there something in the gameplay that
is annoying you?
(Please note, these discussion questions are only intended to
jumpstart conversation, not to be the sole point of discussion.)
Next week? Well, we might be going in search of a certain
Hydra...

The most challenging at the beginning of the game is to not have
a full skillbar :P (I wanna use my multi attack dangit!)
When I was playing the "Burn it all" quest I came across this..

I'm
going to call his dragon Rhosgobel.
Like Miran, I will let the Doom items rot in my backpack for the
playthrough. He does have a DA and 2200 DCs though, as I
purchased 6 DAs with 2K DCs. (I'm wondering what DC class I'll
buy for him when we get there...) I am inspired by a Beastmaster
build, so I'll dump CHA and END into him.
The first two assignments are now done! It was fun rediscovering
Oaklore. Also, wow... A Hero is Bored seems to have gotten a
visual revamp! (the flying dragon animations, the music, the
face view of Celestia and Twilly on dragonback, if I recall
correctly, were definitely not part of the original quest)
The thing I probably find more difficult at the start of the
game is the lack of multi-attack, the lack of diversity in my
inventory and the lack of Escelense weapons. (I always have the
reflex to swap my weapon to Escelense whenever I see a monster
tagged with "Elemental", so Sir Jing's Weapons quest felt weird
to me :P ) I also note that the Base Classes' animations are
quite in need of a visual revamp... and Sir Vey's camp hasn't
been revamped along with the rest of Oaklore. But those aside,
it was great playing again through everyone's favourite newbie
area!
Looking forward to the next assignment!
P.S: In the second week's quest assignment, it seems that there
is the Sneevil Treefort, even if it was in the first week's
quest assignment.

So although I'm going to keep my main as Avacyn, I also created
the rogue Tariel

because
it'll be cool to see which one has it easiest. Though if things
get busier I'll revert back to just Avacyn. All of the
characters do have DAs, but DOOM isn't my style.
I think I agree that the hardest part is definitely the lack of
skills. Mage takes forever to get Multi hit :p Though it's a
VERY nice change for the healing pads to get you to full health
without standing there for a full minutes. And these quests put
me in the middle of level 8.
Did anyone else catch the Princess Bride reference in that last
Sir Vey quest? :D
(Also, San, I almost fell out of my chair in laughter >.< )

Rasa had a good time fighting for the Mollo fruit. She's now
level 9.
One thing I'm noticing is that it's tough to balance your need
for mana in these early stages. I think some WIS training is in
order soon.
I'm also noticing that I'm having a lot more fun doing this than
when I tried to create other secondaries.
I think at this point we've done just about every quest in
Oaklore proper, so I'm looking forward to next week.

Oddly enough, my main isn't called Varen. Either way, I'm
currently grinding it out to get 15 Pouches of Sparkling Sand so
that I can get the Pactoganal Knight Gear from Sir Vey. I'll
probably gain a few levels on the way as well. :)
Either way, my ultimate aim is to become a Paladin. So until
then I'll just be a warrior. :)
One thing I love is how we still appear in the top left corner
of the screen every time we do the ruins quest. XD

If we're hitting Falconreach next week, are we going to
backtrack to do Sir Ano's quests at level 10? Because despite
the corniness that was one of my favorite sets in the game.

We will be hitting Sir Ano at some point, yes, not sure when,
but I am aware we are skipping it at the moment.

Since DF seems to be the uncontested grand winner of that
thread, it may attract more players to the game. Rediscover DF
seems like the perfect thing to guide players such as this one
who fear there is too much for them to catch up with! :D

I've made a tag on twitter for it as well.
My biggest question is whether I can link to this forum on
twitter, be it my personal one or the proposed RDF one.
