"Open Mic" Night

[color=#7faef1]Hey y'all! After chatting with Snake and Varen
this morning in chat, I was thinking it'd be neat if we maybe
had a night where we all could get together on Skype and share
short stories, poetry, or even showcase snippets of song we've
been working on! I know that when members and visitors have
gotten together to casually chat and sing on Skype, it's been
oodles of fun, and I think that it'd be awesome to have a
semi-formal time and place to celebrate the talents of our
family and friends alike, similarly to how we have Movie Night
as well. C:
I've a few ideas so far:
1. Since it'd still be a pretty relaxed hangout while centered
on listening to others' musical / written contributions, maybe
we could have a specific day of the week and chunk of time
alotted, and set a tentative meet up for twice a month. As an
example, perhaps every second and fourth Thursday of the month,
from 7–11pm server time. That way, we can decide for sure in the
days leading up to that date to gather if people have things
they want to show off, or just all hang out in a call anywho!
The name of the game is flexible, hee. ^ _^
2. This thread could be used as a "sign-up" for those who have
something they'd like to share at the next upcoming Open Mic
Night.
3. Monthly / seasonal themes of some sort for writers and
singers to find / craft contributions towards, should they so
wish.

As I said with Aura earlier, I LOVE this idea, and would
participate with whatever I could. I am free most nights, except
when I have lab. I will be there and try and participate
whenever I can.
EDIT: To add to Star's comments, I agree with the idea that the
people with the best connections should host. As long I am in my
apartment, I have really good connection, so I can do that.
Plus, I have most everyone's Skype into.

I love the idea! Few comments:
1, Bi-weekly sounds good, but since a lot of people have
activities that are day-of-the-week specific (i.e, practice
every wednesdays or something), I think they should be on two
different days of the week. Maybe Wednesday/Thursday, or
Tuesday/Thursday.
2, Since people do have varied schedules, I would suggest
lengthening it one or two more hours (starting at 5 or 6). That
way, since people will be coming and going as they please, it's
a bit easier for overseas members to make at least part of it,
and no one has to stay for the entire time.
3, Since some connections are better than others, we should
PROBABLY also have a set list of people with the best of
connections who can host for part/all of the night. (Not me, in
other words :P )
But I love this, so I hope it works out!

I'd be all up for that if I could make it. Back in Britain,
7-11pm server time is 12pm-4am, so I would be hard-pressed to be
trying to do any form of musical activity without waking the
rest of my family. I would happily send pre-recorded stuff
though, even if I could do that any other time in IRC. :P
Also, it'd be an idea to post my Skype details. Where would be
the best place to put that?
