The silver Lining.

[spoiler=Rules]1. You may only catch the first Pokemon
encountered in any given area.
--1a. Dupes clause is OFF. If you encounter a Pokemon you
already own as your first encounter, that is your catch.
--1b. For areas with multiple floors or similar, such as the
Whirl Islands and Mt. Mortar, you are only allowed one catch for
the whole area, NOT one catch per floor.
--1c. Shiny clause is on-- with the exception of the Red
Gyarados, any shiny Pokemon may ignore the first-encounter rule.
--1d. Pokemon encountered before obtaining Poke Balls do not
count as encounters.
--1e. Exception: You are allowed to catch more than one Pokémon
in the Bug Catching Contest, but if and only if all you want to
do is win the Sun Stone. All catches after the first encounter
do NOT count towards adding points and MUST be released at the
end of the Contest.
--1f. Exception: You CANNOT catch any legendary Pokémon. If you
encounter Entei, Raikou or Suicune as your first catch, skip
them and catch whatever comes next.
2. If a Pokemon faints, it is dead and you must permanently box
or release it.
3. Give everything a nickname! Autumn is a time for getting
closer with everything around you.
4. It's Not Christmas Quite Yet: No gift Pokemon are allowed.
This includes the Game Corner and the Togepi egg, but does not
include your starter.[/spoiler]
[spoiler=Chapter 1]It's the year 20XX Johto is hit by a great
depression, not in the way of money or other materialistic
things, no everyone is literally depressed.
Everyone except me... I made it my job to find the source of all
this and to destroy it.
My name is San and this is my story...
San: Yes! Today is the day! I will start my journey to stop the
great depression!
Good morning Mom!
Mom: *sigh* morning... I have a terrible headache... Please just
eat your breakfast quietly...
San: No time! I'm going to get my first pokemon!
Mom: *mumbles* Poor Elm, if he doesn’t have a headache yet he
will get one soon...
San:What did you say, mom?
Mom: Nothing dear... Don't forget to take your pokegear with
you, the damn thing has been beeping non-stop.
San:Will do mom!
*Later in Professor Elm's lab*
San: PROFESSOR ELM!
Elm: Quiet down a little will you? What do you want?
San: You promised me to give me my first pokemon today,
remember?
Elm: oh, I guess I did... Well let's get it over with... pick
anyone you like...
San: YES!!! Let's see... I think I'll choose...

Elm: They're made for eachother... But wait... it sounded like
you answered your pokemon… as if you could understand what it

San: Oh you know! uhmmm... bonding and stuff?
Elm:... O...K then, anyhow I have something to do for you, a
friend of mine found a curious thing, I'd like you to retrieve
it for me...
San: Ok Prof, where do I need to go?
Elm: Just past Cherrygrove City, it's not too far away.
San: Will do! Seeya prof! and thanks for the pokemon!

*After a short trip and a few battles*
San: We are finally there!
Happiness: WhereIsThere?
AndOMMIBecameSoMuchStrongerNowThatIAmTravellingWithYouAn-
San: Happiness!
Happiness: What?
San: Calm down a bit please *mutters* I finally get what my
mother always says about me..
Happiness: Is this better?
San: Yes! Much better! I like the way you act but I want to
understand what you're saying!
Happiness: Fair enough!
San: Now to answer your question we're at Professor Elm's
friend's house!
Happiness: Great! Let's get inside and see what he has for us!
San: My plan exactly!
*They enter the house*
San: Sorry for disturbing I came here to get something for
professor Elm an-
*San's jaw drops as he sees 2 people one of which is the famous
professor Oak*
San: Oh my mew! You're professor Oak!
Oak: Well.. Yes I am!
Happiness: Who?
San: I am a huge fan of your work! Are you here to study pokemon
that aren't in Kanto?
Oak: Always glad to meet a fan! and even more glad to meet
someone who isn't so down all the time! I'm here to study the
strange events that caused the great depression to happen!
San: Oh right since you were not in Johto you weren't affected
by the Force!
Oak: Exactly! Nobody outside of Johto was affected by the
depression, which is very curious.. but how did you come out
unaffected? were you in Kanto at that moment?
San: I.. uhm.. Don't know why I'm not affected, I felt the wave
of depression come over me but.. shrugged it off somehow, when I
went downstairs I saw my mother crying.. I..
Happiness: San? Are you ok?
Oak: It's ok, I understand you rather don't want to talk about
it and you don't have to.
San: *pats Happiness* I'm ok, it's just a memory I'd rather not
have. Ever since that day I made it my goal to find the source
of the depression and destroy it!
Happiness: But the depression happened years ago! Why didn't you
start sooner?
San: I needed a pokemon to do that, It's not safe to go out into
the grass without one.
Oak: Well you sound like a smart and responsible boy, if you're
going to travel around Johto I'd like you to have this:
San: Is this a.. It can't be!
Happiness: What is that?
Oak: That is a pokedex! This device automatically registers all
the pokemon you encounter! you can also check a pokemon's moves,
levels and the remaining energy it has!
Happiness: That sounds like a handy thingamajig!
San: It is! Thank you so much Professor Oak!
Oak: You're very welcome! I trust you'll treat it well, Please
try to catch lots of pokemon to fill it!
San: Well actually I-
Oak: Look at the time! I have to go! good luck, San I'm sure
we'll meet again.

San: Wow that was THE professor Oak!
Mr Pokemon: Yeah yeah.. Say are you going to keep hanging around
my house or are you going to do what Elm send you here for?
San: Oh right! He said you found something?
Mr Pokemon: Yes.. This egg.. I have reasons to believe this came
from a pokemon!
San: Pokemon lay eggs?
Happiness: Well yeah duh! Where else would we come from?
Mr Pokemon: I don't know for sure, that's why I want professor
Elm to research it, he's the expert at these kinds of things..
San: That's amazing!
Mr Pokemon: Yes.. and now get out of my house! I need to rest!
Happiness: What a grumpy guy..
San: Yeah each and every person deals differently with their
depression..
Happiness: Taking it out on us wasn't nice though..
San: No it wasn't but ah well.. let's get this to professor Elm!
*San and Happiness were on their way back to NewBark town when
suddenly..*
*BUMP*
San: Hey what gives?
???: ....
San: Are you ok? I'm sorry I didn't see you coming there!
???: ...
Happiness: He isn't much of a talker is he?
San: Doesn't look like it, So if you're ok I will just leave
now..
???: ..Did you just talk to your pokemon?
San: uhm.. no?
Happiness: What's with this guy?
San: I don't know but judging from the pokeball in his hand, he
wants to have a battle!
*One quick buttwhooping later*

San: Professor Elm? What happened?
Elm: I was robbed.. Just my luck, some guy just came in and took
one of my remaining pokemon..
[b]Happiness: [/b]Which one did he take?
San: Happiness wants to know what pokemon he took.
Elm: He took Chikorita
[b]Happiness: [/b] oh no.. San, We just beat a guy with a
chikorita.. could it be..
San: I am afraid so, Happiness..
Elm: What is wrong?
San: Professor, on our way here we fought someone who had a
chikorita.. his name was "Dirk.P".
Elm: and you let him go.. *Sigh* well I guess I will notify the
police about this, but how about the thing mr. pokemon found?
San: Oh right! Here it is!
Elm: A pokemon egg.. how mysterious.. I am looking forward to
researching it.. that is a feeling I have not felt in quite a
while..
San: Professor, is it ok for me to leave on my journey now?
Elm: Of course.. be safe..
San: I will! Bye, Professor!
Aide: wait.. I want you to have these, I cannot use them
anyway..
San: 5 pokeballs! NICE! Thank you very much!
*outside*
San: Time to catch our first pokemon!

save and training is one of the ways to do that!

San: I wonder what pokemon we will find here!
Rattata: Memememe! Oh please me!
San: Uhm.. sure.. You will have to get in a pokeball first
though..
Rattata: Not a problem just throw it at me!
San: Ok.. pokeball go!
*Rattata was caught without fail*
San: *pchoo* so what is your name?
Rattata: My name is:

Eve: : He is a real mean streak, only wants the top percentage
rattata and else will try to force you into being one!
San: That is terrible..
Eve: : Yeah! And when I say "try" I really mean it, he sucks at
training and might resort into violence to discipline his
pokemon!
San: I have heard enough! Where can I find this trainer?
Eve: : He is just ahead of here!
San: Happiness, are you ready to kick some tail?

*A few minutes later*
trainer: Come on Rattata! Do not be such a weakling! You are
Top percentage I tell you!
San: Hey you! Who are you and what are you doing to that
rattata?
trainer: I am Joey and what I do to my pokemon is none of your
business!
San: You are dead wrong there buddy!
Joey: You want to challenge me? Well COME AT ME BRO!
[b]HAPPINESS: [/b] Oh it is on!
*One humiliating scene later*
Joey: I.. Lost..
San: You will never win when you treat your pokemon like that.
[b]HAPPINESS: [/b] Indeed.
Joey: I lost but stil.. I had.. fun?
San: Of course you had fun! Battling is to bond with your
pokemon if you do not have fun while doing it, it is better to
quit.
Joey: I.. guess you are right.. thank you.. I will try to get
my pokemon to be top percentage with honest training..
San: Good! But if I find out you are miss treating your pokemon
again I WILL come back and force you to release them!
Joey: Understood!
Eve: : That was so awesome! I am glad to have you as a trainer!
San: Think nothing of it, I cannot stand people mistreating
their pokemon!
[b]HAPPINESS: [/b] and he probably was doing that because of the
depression..
San: Yeah.. I am glad we.. somehow.. got that out of him..
San: But let`s press on! I see a new route just up ahead!
*A wild weedle appears*
Chestnut: Oh I see prey!
San: Chestnut no! Eve can you weaken it for me?
Eve: : Sure can! *Tackles* There we go!
San: Ok now, Pokeball!
Eric: You got it!

San: Do not worry, he cannot do anything.
Falkner: It has been such a long time since I could last enjoy a
battle! But this.. this brought the happiness back to me! You
were practically glowing!
San: uhm.. yeah glowing.. Great!
Falkner: Thank you, San! Take this badge and TM and promise me
you will spread this happiness to the other gym leaders as well!
San: Awesome! I promise I will try my best to do that!
