Pokemon Showdown Tournament: Open to All
By: Starflame Date: September 2, 2014, 4:01 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Anyone interested in participating in the Beacons and Guests
open tournament, Post here with your preferred Showdown User
Name. Also, rate your Pokemon skills from 1 (absolutely no
experience) to 10 (master of all things Pokemon). I will try to
organize the first round of brackets (sometime next week) so
that you face someone relatively close to your own skill level.
The main rules to creating your Pokemon team:
1. No Uber/Legendary Pokemon are allowed.
2. Only one Mega Pokemon allowed per Team.
3. Try not to be a huge troll, especially if playing someone
with less experience.
4. You will be able to change up to two of your Pokemon
after each battle. This can be anything from items, to move
sets, to the Pokemon
Edit: Courtesy of Miran, here is a link of all Legendaries!

Ubers should have that rank next to them when you go to
create your team in the showdown.

you need help creating your teams!
For myself, I'll be using the name Starflame, and I'm ranking my
Pokemon knowledge as around 5.

I would have to say my skill range is probably about 8. I forget
a lot of super simple things that I really shouldn't forget.
Just to confirm, we have to stick with one team the entire time
right?

Since a lot of people are new at this and will probably be
receiving advice as they go along, I think it'd be alright to
modify things like move sets/items/abilities, but keep the
Pokemon the same throughout the tournament. Sound fair?

If that was to happen, being able to change everything else but
pokemon would be pretty much the same as if you changed your
team entirely. There are many different ways to build a single
pokemon, so it would be interesting. I don't care either way. I
was just wanting to know some more definite details on the
entire thing.

Question was brought up in chat, and as per Emp's idea, you will
be able to change up to two of your Pokemon after each battle.
This can be anything from items, to move sets, to the Pokemon
themselves, to all of the above.

Deathlord45 is my preferred name over on Showdown. I'd rate my
self at a solid 7.5 I tend to not think things through well when
facing some opponents.
No legends. Well I have plenty of teams without legends, so it
doesn't bother me.

DD Adam, I'm probably like a 7 given how I fare typically on
Showdown (I'm like 1400-1500 in the rankings so pretty decent
but not amazing).
Also, "no legends." Does that just mean the Ubers banlist (hi,
Mewtwo) or are we talking guys like Zapdos, Suicune, Regirock,
etc too? I have a couple guys that are technically legendary but
are definitely OU tier, and some guys (Regirock as one I've
listed) aren't even OU, they're like... NU. If we're gonna say
flat out no legends I'm gonna have to rework my team a smidge,
which is fine but I'll have to play with some different things
to find what works.

When the idea first came up, I know we said all Legendaries in
general were out. Let's go ahead and try this tournament
without ANY legendaries, and if it works well and people learn,
we can change the requirements slightly for next time

I used to feel pretty competent. Then Reki came along... :P
@above: That would probably be for the best. Even when taking
factors such as viable movesets into account, Legendaries tend
to have stats that are higher on average to ordinary Pokemon.
Even if they are not spectacular, they are usually pretty
well-rounded and more difficult to put down.
