Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Handbook & Adventurer's Vault

and Ging has them. It's cooler for the players if they stay
       "unspoiled.

       ------
       Hows, Whys and general info:
I might be partially to blame for this due to sharing and asking
for D&D tales of heroics and epic blunders, but honestly, with
the amount of roleplayers, gamers, creative writers and
crazypeople in our chat, it really was just a matter of time
until we got the idea: Let's start our own (D&D) RP group to
       play together in chat![/i]
On D&D - from my personal experience:
Choosing D&D means agreeing on core rules and a certain mood:
       Heroic high-fantasy with a dash comedy/suspense/intrigue and
other genres, if wanted. There are tons of monsters to slay,
treasures to find/steal/loot and a wealth of source material
available either ready for play or converted into the version
we'll use with a bit of good judgment. Choice of Race and Class
is a bit more limited, mostly to humanoid non-winged races, at
least without the proper sourcebook, but enough to make unique,
memorable characters. I'd refrain from letting things get TOO
weird and wild, as it'll mean more hassle for the DM to keep
things fair and fun for everyone.
If people want to do crazyfun time-travelling robot ninja
chicken adventures, I think choosing a more lenient (but also
less rookie-friendly) rp system like Big Eyes, Small Mouth or
GURPS would make people happier than trying to shoehorn it into
D&D. That sounds like an excellent idea for an additional RP
group, in fact. ;) But it's certainly not everyone's cuppa
moglinberry juice. As our main priority is to establish a
balanced RP that's fun for new players and veterans, shy and
vocal players alike, I'd prefer to do a "classic" one first.
Things are still in the early stages, apart from multiple people
voicing enthusiastic interest. So it's time to open up the
discussion to everyone. We'll have to settle on a system, decide
at least roughly with what balance of Storytelling, Action,
Adventure/Exploration and "Rule of Cool" vs "Fair for everyone +
in tune with the rules & setting" we'd be most comfortable.
There is a valiant and mighty DM to find, and players new to the
system or (Digital) Pen & Paper roleplaying to guide. I will use
the lower half of this post to consolidate resources, things we
seem to agree on, and questions/topcis that need to be
addressed, but for now have at it. :)
       What say you?

As an interesting update, I may soon come up a Pdf document of
the 4E Player's manual and guide. This could very well help
everyone interested in playing to get started on the player
basics and eventually join into a game. That certainly could
       help us get started.
A few puzzling things remain though. I know we can roll a dice
on Chatzy although not certain if we can do more than one dice
at a time. That may mean we need to do several rolls in more
       dice intensive situations.
And the trickiest thing is a DM. In order to have a DM, we need
someone who already has the DMing manuals. It seems to be the
hardest thing for us to find.

I do have the manuals. I just haven't sat down and read them
       yet.

       Great news!
In case you've missed it, Elryn found a link to the 4E Player's
       Handbook
  HTML http://ge.tt/69FYzBG/v/0
For Non-DM's that's pretty much all you
need to get started! (It's downloadable too.) So if you're even
a tiny bit interested, please take a look. :)
While chatzy/xat has some good options for RPing, it lacks a
dice rolling script and a way to not just share but interact
with pictures and maps. That's where I think the roll20 web
       based virtual gametable
  HTML http://roll20.net/
could be a very cool alternative. I would
really appreciate it if you watched the "quick tour" video and
tell us what you think. "Web based" in this case means everyone
needs an account (quick & free) and the DM invites the players
       via link.

       *Elryn grins*
By the looks of things, it would seem we already have a
DragonBorn Warlord, a Dragonborn Fighter, an Eladrin Wizard and
       an Eladrin Ranger.
If we can find the manuals for DMing online, Miran, do you think
you could handle it? Or Gingkage, do you feel confident enough
with the ones you have on hand?

I'm in the middle of moving, so I don't have time to read them
right now, but I should be able to handle it, yea.

*nods* Best of luck with the moving. May everything turn out all
       right.
*grins* Say true, early thanks for making things possible. This
       will be awesome.

My character is (probably) Astraia, Daughter of the Stars.
       Level 1 Two-blade Ranger, Eladrin.
I'll add more info as I slowly go through the character sheet.

Heyo everyone, been awhile since I posted here, or really talked
to any of you besides Draketh. Things keep me busy. I don't even
have time for my personal stuff half the time. I am interested
in this however as this would give me something that is
relaxing...well can be relaxing... to do. So I ask, am I allowed
to join? I know how to fill out character sheets and what not.
       I've played D&D before.

       PCK!!! *tackles him in excitement*
I have a suggestion for another online table that I know to be
free (and I also know some of what I need to know to be able to
use it, so there's a plus).
  HTML http://rpgtableonline.com/welcome.php
It can be a little glitchy sometimes (that or it just hates my
mom who has loads of trouble with it), namely with people
lagging and having to relog to be understood. But on the whole,
it's a good table, and I'd readily recommend it.
