[font=georgia][color=#5694EB]Hmnn.. I'm not sure if this is too
far out there, but I'll give my first guess a whirl!
Is the answer perhaps blood and the circulatory system?
Blood is darker when inside the body and unoxydized;
When blood leaves the body, it turns brighter red;
The heart has four chambers;
Veins and arteries carry blood round and round the body.
A bit of a spooky take for the approaching Halloween, aha. C:

Aura, that's almost a better response than the actual answer to
the riddle! But sadly, it is incorrect.

Tiger got it! :D A Chimney is sooty black on the inside, bright
red bricks on the outside. The top of it usually has four
corners, but at the bottom you all gather 'round it for warmth.

New Riddle, since it's been a while!
What part of a bird, not in the sky,
Can swim in the ocean and always stay dry?

Is it the bird's shadow? In a sense, it is ''part'' of the bird
but not in the sky. It is down below over where it is flying.
And if it is doing so over the ocean, the shadow lies on the
surface of the water ''swimming'' per say and since it is the
bird's shadow it can never get wet?

Hmm... I guess I likely should since I have solved it and left
folks empty handed.
I actually had one brewing in my mind... Give me a moment to
piece together properly.
Edit:
I have held many skeletons
But am not a coffin
Dismembered bodies, pieces of skin
But nothing to do with an iron maiden
Some expose my innards quite readily
Others will do everything they can to prevent it
As silent as, but not, the grave.
How is that?
