The Azure League, Week 1: Double Trouble!
By: Faerdin Date: April 2, 2017, 5:15 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
The Azure League
Many years ago, the mightiest trainers ever seen gathered at the
base of a plateau and decided to build a team -- an elite force
that could safeguard the regions and foster the growth of
talented young trainers from the world over. This team is
actually competent and not the one we speak of today. Today is
the dawn of a new age -- of the AZURE LEAGUE!
This prospective series of Pokemon tournaments will be casual
asides to see which Beacon can make it to the top and become the
Azure League Champion! As such, these contests will be largely
unregulated and will be open for any and all Pokemon with any
combination of items, abilities, and movesets. The conditions
for entry are as follows:
1) Duplicate Pokemon or items are prohibited. Especially six
Pinsirs with Guillotine. I'm looking at you. You know who you
are.
2) The following Pokemon are prohibited on the grounds of being
legendary: Arceus, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Celebi, Darkrai, Deoxys,
Dialga, Diancie, Genesect, Giratina, Groudon, Ho-oh, Hoopa,
Jirachi, Keldeo, Kyogre, Kyurem, Lugia, Lunala, Magearna,
Marshadow, Manaphy, Meloetta, Mew, Mewtwo, Palkia, Phione,
Rayquaza, Reshiram, Solgaleo, Shaymin, Victini, Volcanion,
Xerneas, Yveltal, Zekrom, Zygarde.
This week's challenge: [b]Double Trouble!
The theme for this round of competition is double battling, the
ubiquitous battle style introduced in Generation III [s]and
hardly spoken of since for all that is holy BRING DOUBLE-CENTRIC
GAMES BACK NINTENDO[/s]! For those unfamiliar, the concept is
self-explanatory -- you send out two Pokemon at a time and use
them in tandem with each other! Bring out the Earthquakes and
the Heal Pulses!
If this first tournament goes well, semifinalist and finalist
level prizes will be offered. But for now, there will only be a
prize reserved solely for the winner. If you prove victorious
against all the other Beacons, if you defy the odds and become
our first Azure League Champion, you will receive one of two
phenomenal prizes:
Choice 1: Two competitively bred and personalized Pokemon of the
winner's choice, along with two BP items!
Choice 2: $15 gifted in Google Play points!
So what are you waiting for? The Azure League awaits!
Signing Up
Sign-ups begin today and will continue through to April 13th.
Upon completed sign-ups, we will match up our competitors and
start from the top, working our way through the matched battlers
however their schedules may permit. Replay links to the matches
will be added to the main post of this thread so spectators can
enjoy the matches even if they aren't able to make it for the
live battle. Battles may be private on request.
All you need to do in order to sign up is post below!

My solution to the uneven bracketing was to grant one pair of
competitors a bye, meaning one lucky group would automatically
be forwarded to the next stage of the competition. I rolled 12d3
in the BoH Pokemon channel to see which pair of competitors
would be moving forward, and it turned out to be Draketh and San
Robin! So congratulations, guys! :D
