       The Beacons as Gamemakers
       By: guest94 Date: May 14, 2016, 6:50 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
So lately we've been struggling over finding a game that we can
ALL bond over. I say, if we can't find one, make one! Or two, or
       three.
We have at least three coders here in the BoH, and while we
can't devote all our time to game development, we can do so in
       our spare time.
The Unreal Engine 4 is available free unless you actually
release your game as a paid thing, which is thinking pretty far
ahead for us. So I'm thinking we should work on that there,
though I'll have more to say about it once I've actually tested
       it out.
We have a multitude of writers in this clan though, and I bet if
we all put our heads together we could come up with something
nice. Post ideas for small games, big games, and whatever else
you think would be cool. Who knows, maybe we'll eventually
become a game company! But in the mean time we'll have a lot of
       fun with it.

       First idea: Linkx
A stick figure platform puzzle game where your objective for
each level is to pick up the prize(s) and make it to the end of
the screen, armed only with an endless supply of rope. The
player directs the character to throw the rope to attach to the
platforms and then swings across to land wherever they end up.
Should be relatively easy to code, unless we want super
       realistic physics or something.

Do you have any video clips of simple games made through Unreal?

Uhm, I don't. But I can try to get some and if I do I'll post
       them here.
Here's a link to info about a game that looks pretty simple. I'm
going to start going through tutorials tomorrow.

Game idea (others feel free to post theirs too!): Cassandra
Acts. This might be more of a "me" game than a Beacons game. But
it'll help me get familiar with the engine that I end up
       choosing.
You are Cassandra, a cat with seer powers and the ability to
communicate telepathically. Last night, you had a dream: some
criminals are possessed of a deadly weapon and will use it to
destroy your city. You don't know who, you don't know exactly
what, and you don't know why. But you know it will happen, and
no human is listening to you! So you decide to take action, and
escape your cushy indoor life to hit the streets in search of
answers before it's too late. Along the way you're joined by
various other pets and strays, and maybe the odd human.
This will be a Strategic RPG with very strong Visual Novel
elements. Therefore, I plan on having multiple endings. Ones
where you succeed, ones where you fail, ones where you cause the
disaster, etc. I need more depth though. I need a good story
that will support having endings like that. I need your halp,
       writers. xP
As for gameplay, the battles are based on knowing what's coming
a turn or two before it comes, and acting accordingly, or
instructing others to act. With instructing others, their chance
of listening is based on what you want them to do as well as how
much they trust you personally and what your reputation as a
       prophet is.
