Personally I think this Is a stunt by Microsoft to get more
copies of Windows 8 sold. Such a shame, Windows XP was good
during it's days.

It's actually pretty obvious too.

I guess you can think of it that way. It's basically a really
old version of Windows that came out in 2001.

Uh, it's not shutting down. Just Microsoft is no longer
providing help (support), or making updates for it anymore.
People can still use it, just it's not recommended.
