After speaking with the GI specialist that is caring for Blake,
he decided that Blake needs to be seen in Pittsburgh ASAP. So,
we have an appointment on Wednesday February 1 at 7:30 am. They
will do the 2nd surgery/procedure then and remove the stent.
February 1, 2017
We travel to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for Blake's Endoscopic
Ultrasound. The procedure went well, but we still don't have any
definite answers yet. His pancreas looks good. His gall bladder
looks good. But... His common bile duct is still enlarged. More
"sludge" had formed in it and he had air pockets in it, but the
dr said this isn't completely uncommon due to the stent being in
place. He decided to keep the stent in for now. They also
discovered polyps on Blakes liver and in the common bile duct.
The dr took several biopsies and we should have results of those
next week. He also took a biopsy of the stomach lining to test
for celiac disease. If none of the biopsies give us any clues or
answers then they will most likely send Blake back to Pittsburgh
and admit him into the children's hospital. The dr said there
are also a few medications he may try in order to calm Blakes
digestive system and give him some relief from the pain. Right
now it feels like 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
