       How it began

Blake initially became sick on December 28, 2016. He woke up
and complained of not feeling well. We had a family Christmas
party planned that evening and he stayed home.
       December 31, 2016
Blake is showing no improvement and all he wants to do was
sleep. I took him to Urgent care for an exam. During the exam,
the Dr. pressed gently on Blake's stomach and he grimaced in
pain. The Dr. referred us to the Emergency room in order to rule
out appendicitis. After bloodwork, a CT scan and an ultrasound,
they determined that it was not appendicitis. However, the
noticed that his common bile duct (CBD) was enlarged and that
his liver enzymes were high. We were instructed to follow up
with our family physician and with a GI specialist.

The family physician suspects Mono, so Blake was also tested for
that. It came back negative. They instructed us to follow up
       with the GI specialist.

We saw the GI specialist, who ordered more recent lab work. He
reviewed the test that were done prior and at this point said he
was suspecting gallstones, even though it is rare for someone
Blake's age. He ordered an MRI for January 19.
Blake began showing some improvement. For the first time in 2
weeks, he wanted to at least nibble on small meals. Prior to
this he had NO appetite and only wanted to sleep. He was now up
for longer period and trying to at least watch tv or play video
games. Meanwhile, the GI specialist office called to tell me
that the liver enzymes were starting to decrease, but to still
       go for the MRI.

We took Blake out of the house for a haircut. He was joking
around and seemed to be improving. He said the stomach pain was
still there, but not as severe.
       Sunday, January 15,2017
He was laying on the couch and his color was gone again. He just
seemed tired. I assumed taking him out of the house on Saturday
wore him out, and let him rest.
       Monday,January 16, 2017
He mostly rested in between playing video games for short
periods of time. He said he was going to try to return to school
on Tuesday, with the agreement that if he had any pain he would
go to the school nurse and I'd go get him from school.
