April 12,2017
I was called at work this evening. Blake was complaining to his
oldest sister that he was having abdominal pain again and that
he thought his pancreatitis was back. I have to admit, all of
these doctor appointments, trips to the ER, hospitalizations,
etc. are truly taking a toll on me-- and I'm not even the
patient!
I'm also becoming concerned about our financial situation.
Taking time off from work to tend to an ill child is certainly
causing a dent in my income.
I left work and we took Blake straight to UPMC Hamont. After
blood work and urine specimens, they doctor on call said that
Blake's lipase levels were elevated, once again indicating
pancreatitis. He did not think hospitalization was necessary,
since we already know how to deal with it. (rest, fluids in high
doses,full liquid diet)
Blake was given an injection of pain medication (Norco), Zofran
for nausea, and prescriptions to coat his stomach while the
pancreas hopefully heals. We were discharged and instructed to
call Dr. Srinath (GI specialist at CHP) first thing in the
morning.
So, it looks like we're headed back to Pittsburgh in the very
near future.
