New Years 2025 - Bongatar
He, the Master of Bongatar Circuit
After a one year hiatus during which no horse track was built
for New Years, horse racing returned for the 2025 New Years in
Bongatar. He, the Master of Bongatar Circuit, located in the
southwestern corner of Bongatar, is a fairly typical track,
though it features a cave converted into a short underground
section. The track was one of the quickest ever built, being
completed in under 24 hours, thanks to the help of TheMooCows
and Darvince, who procured a new racing herd and assisted with
construction of a section of the track, respectively.
The 2025 Bongatarian Grand Prix used the standard format of two
qualifying heats and a final heat, with each heat race being
three laps long followed by a five lap long final. The first
heat consisted of four competitors, with the second having five.
The top three in each heat qualified to the final, as only six
horses were eligible for the event. After the questions raised
about the speed disparities of the original New Years Racing
Herd, a project undertaken by both Kalassak and TheMooCows to
breed a new, more equal herd resulted in six horses with speeds
ranging from 12.06 to 12.08 m/s - a much smaller range than the
original herd of eight. Five of the horses originated from
TheMooCows' breeding program, with one from Kalassak's. The
horses were named by a poll of New Years participants shortly
before the race. From the eight potential suggestions, Murdoch,
He, Bongatar, Diet Coke, Motorized Vehicle, Frederick III, and
Website were selected. Anchorage and Cyberhorse received the
fewest votes and were not used.
The races were primarily officiated by Kalassak, however AeV
helped with the release of the starting gate and commentating
heat 2, and TheMooCows releasing the starting gate and
commentating the final.

At the beginning of the final lap, yuunishinoya was far behind
and much of the audience feared he would not qualify. However,
he set an impressive lap time to catch up to 3rd place runner,
TheMooCows, resulting in a photo finish that was too close to
call in real time. With this result, TheMooCows ceded
qualification to yuunishinoya, based on the fact that his horse
was one of the faster ones (12.08 m/s) and allowed yuunishinoya
to catch up. He is quoted after the final saying "he deserved it
more."

Though both heats were quite free of rearing, the first and
second laps saw nearly every race leaders' horse rear, leading
to a lot of positional changes early in the race.
Murdoch, winner of both heats placed second, with He, Bongatar
being ridden to the win by l_l in the final. After the race, it
is suspected that Murdoch was kidnapped by Darvince.
