The Mesa biome is gigantic. We haven't even mined out a decent
chunk of it and it has been around for months. I don't think
we're going to mine it all and we might as well use it but w/e.
I was also thinking of the first pic because [s]it's close to
revolutea[/s] it has some varied climate.

I hope people will judge from whether they think the area would
be a good place for battles, and not from whether it's very
close to their own regions. Getting there by nether wouldn't
       take long in any case.

Of all the new biomes, I think roofed forest would be the best
       one/most unique for battles.
If people want a jungle & taiga hybrid, I'd be willing to give
up some UYP land for it, though there'd have to be a no nether
portal rule since I'm very obsessive about portals near me. :P
Personally I'd prefer a roofed forest and extreme hills hybrid,
       something like this:

As for how the new bg works, remove flags, remove most zones:
either make it anarchy, make zones really big or make some zones
where you can build and conquer things but most of the space is
unclaimed. I'd like it if battles weren't as planned, allowing
for sorts of sneak attacks/guerrilla warfare. Just ideas I have
       :P

I think roofed forest would quickly be burnt down to crisp, I
think it only helps the attackers sneaking up, leaving the
defenders no interest in preserving it, if we still had flags at
       least.
As for battle planning and anarchy, I think that's going to be
harder, because we aren't that many on the server, so usually
there'd just be one person on who could run around taking over
       whatever the others might've made.
But in the end it's up to the rest of you to decide how a second
battleground should be, so those are just my ideas.

i've got this idea to satisfy both short-term and long-term pvp
       games:
each territory consists of a flag, and a hard task (explained
later). when two teams declare war on each other, they can set
up traditional capture the flag battles. the team that wins has
occupied the zone. an occupied zone is in a state of anarchy and
free pvp combat. if the occupying team solves the hard task
before the occupied team successfully wins a liberating capture
the flag battle, the occupying team now owns the zone.
i'm still coming up with possible hard tasks, here are a few:
guessing the password to a locked chest: too easy to automate
       and boring
have each fortress in a zone be built out of team-colored clay,
and the task is to eradicate all traces of the color: too fast?
rename all items in a chest to the team's name: too boring again

each team has a monument and you must tear down said monument
and replace it with your own. Make the monuments out of
       obisidan.

Wouldn't that just make it harder? It'd take battles and fights
       even longer.
