Idea: Inactive Regions
By: yqt1001 Date: June 21, 2013, 8:28 pm

The inactive regions around Spawntown have been adding up
quickly. The idea is: convert some regions close together into a
community region with developed plots for everyone? Spawntown is
so Bla, what is the fun in that? Why not convert a region close
to spawn into a glorious region where everyone can get a few
decent sized plots and we can have a true spawntown community
there.
Just an idea. :P

Well, technically b-ongatar is owned by darvince.
I agree since Spawntown itself is pretty much built entirely by
bla AFAIK other than some parts.
We should also consider giving long inactive (unless we know the
owner is definetly returning) areas to new members because Tuto
was asking about where he should settle and I told him that
unless he didn't mind setting far from Spawntown, he should ask
yqt about one of the abandoned/inactive areas.
Anyways, here is the link to back in december when we talked
about it:
HTML http://universesandbox.com/forum/index.php/topic,2724.msg94533.html#msg94533
Notable mostly empty regions:
Novascotchara
Tierra Salvaje
Quontia
Quonbla
Bohemia
South Riverfield
Kaministiquia
Verslest
Mudkipzania
Spheron Rimlu
Jungelot
Hondurah
That region between yqt and kipz which has no name (though
technically Kipz has built in that area)

the first thing i did when i got into blacraft was to convert a
chest of cobblestone from the spawntown storage into furnaces
and start building a huge furnace room in a bay next to
spawntown oh yes that was glorious

But how do you decide who gets which plots? Technically you
could already get such plots in any region if you just get
permission from the regional government. Are you proposing
anarchist regions or how are you going to manage those plots?
I do like the idea, but well I never knew how to implement it.
If anyone wants to build something specific in Spawntown they
could go through the same, simple procedure as when you built
McLenin's, as long as I approve of what they build. We have done
pretty much the same with the ice farm in Novascotchara and
Dan's pyramid in Spawntown, plus the obelisk he even built
without permission at first kol.
As for inactive regions, yes, it would be nice if we could get
some people to develop them. We should make rules for when
regions can go inactive, such as when the one controlling them
hasn't been online on the server or posted on here for maybe 6
months without explaining why and their potential plans to come
back. But it would be hard to check who has been inactive for
how long without a plugin for that, and plugins often go
outdated sadly.
If Quontex comes back I don't think he would be happy to see
someone building stuff in Quontia. I saw Deoxy on a while back
and I don't think he would like to see stuff he didn't make in
Spheron Rilmu either. Which is understandable.

The idea is to be more or less anarchy. While we could have
someone assign plots to people, assign plots for maybe a trading
market type of thing, assign plots to automatic farms and other
services. I'd like it better if people had no limit on what they
could do with their plot pending it does not damage other
people's plots.
As far as making rules as to which regions go inactive, I don't
think we've lost contact with most people who have the regions
close to spawn. We could probably ask people if necessary, or
allow a 12 month grace period of not logging onto the server?
This would allow people like Naru, Quontex and deoxy who
occasionally play to have their regions, but not people who have
abandoned it entirely. I know we could probably contact Naru and
maybe get his unused municipalities near spawn in Chazabethia.
Earthquake Forest, parts of Quonbla and Novascotchara could be
another option.
The site of Darvice's spawntown replacement would probably be
best for it though. It's been inactive for many years now, and
no one has any reason to develop it anymore. It's already
flattened and pretty close to spawntown. Neighbouring
municipality Foressia is also pretty desolate and unused.

Ok, complete anarchy.
I like the grace period idea. If people aren't active for 12
entire months, it seems fair for someone else to take over. But
we need a plugin to measure the logins.
Quontex and Deoxy I can say with 99.9% confidence will never
accept to give up one square meter of land.
Plaidania seems like a good option for the anarchy municipality.
I think I like a municipality to be anarchy more than an entire
region to begin with at least. People will interact more in the
smaller space.

Blacraft now has rules on inactivity. I decided to give people a
1 year grace period, and they can simply contact the admins if
they want to make a deal about not losing their developed areas.
HTML http://blacraft.wikia.com/wiki/Rules
We should find a plugin which lets you see when people were last
online.
