To prep or not to prep? And does it get out of control?

To prep or not to prep
How much gear is too much gear?
Is there such a thing? Well let me tell you from experience,
that it's very easy to get caught up in the quagmire of
justifying why you need a new multitool when you already have
multiple ones sitting in your load outs. We'll touch base on
backpacks shortly, If you're an avid Youtuber like me and a
prepper it's very easy to get pulled in. You see all your
favourite personalities reviewing shiny new gadgets such as axes
knives canteens and backpacks. Some of my greatest purchases and
pitfalls have happened while scrolling through different
survival gear stores with Credit Card in hand(At 3 am) Just
remember I know all about downsizing downsizing it can be a
vicious cycle. But I am at the point where I'm satisfied with
what I have, and not overwhelmed with too much gear. Where I'm
pulling my hair out(Been there done that, sold things at half
       value just to downsize)
What surprises me the most is a lot of preppers have the
mentality that if SHTF they're going to take their over stuffed
bag and march into the bush like Joe survival, and live off the
land. They have all this shiny new gear and not once have they
tested any of it out to see what works and what doesn't work for
them in their specific environment. This is troubling to me
because if you don't test your gear how do you know the
       limitations of it.
I would like to think I'm a realist, I first got into prepping
after I seen this YouTuber do a video titled ''The ultimate bug
out bag''. I was intrigued by his load out, and that's when I
became a prepper. Not out of fear like many do, but for the
common sense scenarios he was talking about. Natural disasters
being the biggest concern down to the most simplest ones, like
your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, to getting lost
in the woods on a day hike.. You don't need to be prepping out
of fear that's when things can get out of control. A friend told
me once you can own too many backpacks but you can never own
enough knives... You can't prep for everything there's too many
variables, but you can prep for what could happen in your
environment. You live in a highly populated area what should you
focus on? You live in a desolate area and have 8 months of harsh
winter what are my priorities? My kits are dialled in to where
I'm satisfied (for now), . But in the end the important thing is
all the money you've spent on gear, you are obligated as a
prepared citizen to go out and get yourself and your gear
dirty... If you don't then you're a fool and you've wasted
       thousands of dollars for nothing
