New iPod touch help
By: Dante9744 Date: November 21, 2012, 9:44 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys, I will soon be getting a 4th gen iPod touch and I
think it comes with iOS 5.1.1. I just wanted to know if there's
any tips, warnings, or info or anything that you guys could give
me just so I have a little heads up about it. I've only had most
of my experience with my iPod touch 2g MC so I haven't really
been hands on with many of the newer devices except the 3gs. I
will definitely save my shsh blobs when I get it and try iOS 6
for myself to see how it is. (Although I heard that it might not
run that great on my type of iPod) Any help is appreciated guys
and thanks in advance.

well its 2 years old so apple drop support, experience on 6.x is
like jailbroken 4.2.1 with no optimizations on ipod touch 2g..
you should get 3g or 5g, or just stay away from ios 6

I'm not quite understanding what you're saying.. I get that
apple dropped most support for it, but I want a forth gen so I
can downgrade from iOS 6 whenever I want and maybe try the
tethered jailbreak. Can you explain a bit more about the
performance of it and why you were suggesting a 3g?

i have all 3 gens, i suggest the 3g because its really fast
(same tech as 4g but 600 mhz instead of 800), its dropped on
5.1.1 (thanks god, 6.x ruined my 4g), its fast and responsive,
every apps is compatible, you will not stick with ios 6, the
features are cool, but the performances make you hate it, it
will take long time for hacker to release untethered, developers
will need to update every cydia packages to work etc.

Okay, thanks. Do you think that iOS 5 runs well on the ipt 4g?
Or at least imagine it would or not. And are there any things
that you can do to speed it up/increase ram (without vm) that
you can't do on iOS 4?(EX: launch daemons, removing native apps,
removing extras from homescreen wallpaper, etc.) And another
thing, do you think it would be worth it to remove the shadows
and such from the homescreen wallpaper for that type of iPod on
iOS 5?

its good, 5.0.1 killed my battery but 5.1.1 is perfect, you have
a big optimization script on insanelyi for ios 5 it will ask you
a lot of questions and disable every features you dont want,
remove shadow will help scrolling and animation, also bl4ck0ut
team is talking of a 5.1.1 ipsw so ill probably be in charge of
speed :)

Ah, thanks a lot. :) At least I know I have a device with good
performance to look forward to. I'm gonna try iOS 6 though
anyway just to see how this piece of **** of an OS runs. (Excuse
my language :P) But I appreciate the help. Is there anything
else that would be good to know about it? Any other warnings or
maybe things to stay away from? (besides iOS 6)

Lol, I said that in the beginning.
"I will definitely save my shsh blobs when I get it and try iOS
6 for myself to see how it is."
