Alternate way to use messaging app
By: Dante9744 Date: November 15, 2012, 9:33 pm

Hey guys, this info that I'm gonna share with you would apply to
most iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users, but might be mostly
useful for people with iPod touch. I apologize in advance if
this has been mentioned before, but hopefully I can go into more
detail with it if it has. As you know, the newer bl4ck0ut
firmwares have included the native messaging app even though
there really is no way to use it. This app can also be acquired
by other means for devices that don't have the app by ssh-ing
into the device. (Let me know if anyone needs to know how to do
this) But there is actually a way to use it if you get a tweak
from cydia called "sms gv extension". (How the user gets this
tweak is their business, I just want to state right now that I
am not trying to support piracy) But if you get this tweak it
lets you take any google voice account that could be used for
messaging and uses it with the native messaging app. The easiest
way to do this would be to download the google voice app on your
device first and set it up and then use the tweak. This tweak
works from ios 4 to ios 5. (not sure about 6) This is a very
useful tweak and in my opinion using the native app would be
faster than any other free texting app that you could download.
If you want any more information about this just let me know and
I'll be glad to help. :)

make sure you didnt deleted daemons dataaccess.dataaccessd.plist
make sure you have a official google voice number given by the
google site
setup a microsoft exchange account, you gmail, username,
anything before your @gmail.com
it will ask you for a server just put m.google.com
make sure you didnt deleted daemons apsd.plist and enable
notifications
now download sms gv extension, please note that if you use the
free version it will not take incoming messages, you need to
have a license,
put your google voice information in the sms gv settings (should
be gmail registered)
go receive settings and disable official gv apps, let local mail
on
then return and chek license
your done :)

I might try that later but right now I use Textnow for one
reason only. I can access Textnow from my computer and text from
there, AND I can connect it to Whatsapp and that is the fastest
messaging app I have seen so far. I think that is a good combo
=D
