Teaching Methods

I was helping my son to revise for the mid-term exams and
noticed that his notes had some poor spelling, and parts were
missing. On querying him about the missing parts, he responded:
"the teacher wiped the board before he could finish". So I asked
why didn't he copy them faster and he replied: " the teacher was
blocking his view".
I am very surprised to see that this old fashion teaching goes
and especially at such tender level...each period is about 35
mins (sometimes double that), wouldn't it be more productive for
the teachers to spend more time explaining the principles and
answering questions and then hand out ready made notes to be
filed in folders. The children are spending more time
concentrating on copying the notes correctly, I am sure they end
up missing the whole point by the end of the session...
I am not a teacher and have never been, and I know they do a
good job, but should I be worried? Shouldn't they adopt a more
modern approach? Or perhaps this is the best way...

That is a lazy way of teaching. Honestly most cannot be bothered
because half of the time they are thinking of how to make extra
buck. So the attention that is meant for the child is not honed
in since there was never any psychological state of mind to be
recipient of any child in the first place. Our teachers teach
but there is no compassion or intuitiveness with their teaching.
And most if the children are too scared lazy or were nit
interested in the first place to ask the teacher for assistance.
This is the reason why parents like us will guide our children
and report back in the chat book our observations and have them
corrected asap. Hope this helps. Yours in Christ Jesus FTA

The concerns raised are well noted. As explained during the PTA
that is not our usual style. Please FTA, lets not be too harsh
on our teachers. Like I said, something may have led to that
though I agree with Theo by way of moving forward. Please flag
all challenges for action. Partnership is key. Regards

Hello Danny Sparks, just read your comment. I went back to read
my comment and I wondered if I really was harsh. To me I was
not, to you it might seem like that because you are coming from
the angle of a teacher and I as a parent who put herself first
as a human being and analytically assessing the situation in a
psychological way by removing myself as a person that knows
anything about the school or its environs. I thought the reason
for the forum is to express our thoughts. If I was harsh, then
my apologies. Maybe we should not all be bothered if most of us
do not respond to requests or comments again if we cannot be
free. Once again my most sincere apologies. Yours in Christ
Jesus, FTA
