The shone down on the Northern Hemisphere and if one were to ask
the king, it specifically shone down on the capital, Celestia.
The large palace gleamed in the sunlight as many attempted to
pour into the palace grounds and surrounding areas, trying to be
as close as possible to the most important moment in history.
Today was the day that would mark the 500th year since the
worlds last Contract was made and a new one would begin. The
Coronation, a day 500 years in the making when the next
Protector would awaken and leave on her quest to renew the
       Contract that protects Hellios.
All of Hellios would try to attend this grand day and the few
that could not make it were thought of with pity. The royal
knights were all tasked with keeping the peace and protecting
the palace from any rouge agents sent to harm the Protector.
Standing guard at the front of the palace gates were Sir
Fernadez and his best friend Sir Simon, the two stood proudly in
their armor having made sure it was shined to perfection it
gleamed in the light. Soon they would be closing the gates,
signalling the courtyard had been filled to capacity and no one
else would be allowed entrance. As the flow of people eagerly
tried to get through a young man with flaming red hair was among
them, dressed in a black cropped top and white jacket, by his
side were a pair of men dressed sharply in matching suits the
only difference were the colored ties they wore. Luckily they
were a part of the last wave of people to come through before
the doors were shut. Fernadez and Simon ignored the protest and
began directing the unlucky to other watching spots, with a
collective grumble the crowd dispersed elsewhere. With the crowd
handled the two opened the gates and headed inside, shutting
them to stand guard on the other side. Unbeknownst to them one
more person managed to slip by undetected, invisible to all.
Within the castle the king and queen were going through last
preparations with the head priestess, Maziky. Dressed in her
ceremonial robes she was informing them that everything was done
and they would soon be ready to begin. With a nod the three
dispersed, off to take their places at the balcony overlooking
the courtyard. Deeper within the castle a young girl was just
finishing her own prep. Wearing her ceremonial outfit she looked
at the mirror inspecting that nothing was out of place. Her long
raven hair was braided back with a beautiful blue hair pin, her
red eyes scanned over herself and with a nod she felt ready. "17
years....all I've ever known was this castle and I will finally
be able to leave it to keep the world safe." she muttered, she
smiled but it was small and rueful. She quickly shook her head
and began making her way out the door. The two senior guards
were waiting and ready to escort her to the balcony where she
would address the crowd and begin the final chapter of her life.
The king and queen stood on the balcony, behind them stood
Maziky. Below them the crowd stood, speaking among themselves
until the king and queen raised their hands signalling them to
be silent. "People of Hellios we have all gathered here today to
witness and celebrate the awakening of the next Protector. It
was 40 years ago that I was approached by a Seer and told that
the next Protector would soon be born, she was to be born on the
night our three moons would align an even we all know rarely
occurs. 17 years ago the three moons aligned and a single child
was born that night. By the graciousness of her parents we were
able to bring her into the most protected place in the Northern
Hemipshere, Celestia Castle. She was trained by our head
priestess to learn all that she could in preparation of the task
she was born to take on. And now today you all shall witness the
awakening!" The king, queen and Maziky stepped to the side
allowing the young Protector to step forward from the shadows
and into the light to face her people. The crowd erupted with
cheers and just as quickly calmed down, waiting for their
       Protector to speak.
The young girl looked out into the crowd, her face set with
determination as she stepped to the cream colored rails. Good
people of Hellios, I, Mimiru Queen am the next Protector, I
shall renew the Contract that protects our dear planet. I have
trained all my life to be the Protector you all deserve and it
is my honor to stand before you all for the first time." once
she finished the crowd once again broke out into cheers. In the
crowd the young red headed man and his companions were closely
watching Mimiru. "This doesn't feel right..." the red headed man
said, leaning close to the other two men to be heard. "That's
just your nerves talking Lulu, once Mazi gives the word we'll be
ending this little shin dig." the male with the blue tie said,
his grin fox like. The read head shook his and went back to
watching the balcony silently "Something just isn't right about
this..." were his final thoughts on the matter.
Beneath their feet an almost unnoticeable tremor started,
lasting only a few seconds but caused the crowd to hush once
more. The slight tremor signalling the time had come, the
previous Contract would begin to weaken and the Core would name
Mimiru its next Protector. The skies darken. An ethereal blue
light begins to shine around Mimiru, her body lifts up into the
air and as it glows brighter her red eyes changed to an almost
eerie glowing purple. The crowd below, and the ones on the
balcony watch, entranced by the glow. Once her body settles she
stays rooted in her spot in the sky, she looks out at the crowd,
her gaze no longer that of the young girl but of the sentient
magic living beneath Hellios. "For centuries I have slept,
sustaining the barrier that protects. I feel the weakening and
as the weakness continues I shall waken and the magic below will
once more flow freely. The soul i have chosen must awaken to its
destiny. The guardians I have chosen must awaken to their own
destiny and guide the soul to where it belongs. The soul before
you is not my chosen. Another soul was brought into the world
that bright night, find the soul which bears my mark. The souls
of the chosen will feel it the pull to come together and stand
before the magic below. Their souls will guide them on the path
they believe in. I awaken as the barrier weakens, renew our
contract my chosen soul!" as the words echoed throughout the
land Mimiru began to descend, the glow surrounding her fading.
Landing back onto the balcony she stumbled and fell to her
knees, the crowd below them silent, shocked at the truth
revealed to them. Mimiru stared at the ground, eyes wide with
       disbelief. "....I'm....why. I've...my entire life and I'm...I'm
not the Protector." with her whispered words, anguish coloring
each syllable, below them the crowd erupted with disbelief,
       confusion and anger.
The king and queen stood in silence, unable to step up and try
to bring back control as they stared at the child in front of
them. Behind them Maziky quietly backed into the shadows, past
the guards and down the palace halls. Her silver hair flowing
behind her. In the crowds below the three men stood and looked
at each other wondering what they should do. The male in the red
tie shook his head "We should take our leave, the assignment is
over." he said and forced the two to move. As they too began to
make an exit the young red headed man thought about why this
whole thing felt wrong, it felt as though his left shoulder was
burning but he dismissed it as they fled. Near the back of the
crowd the invisible boy quickly took his leave, once again going
       unnoticed.
Upon the balcony the king finally stepped forward and tried to
rally the crowd back into silence "Panicking will do no good.
From this moment on the Protector must be found and soon or the
world we know will fall to ruins...." he said gravely. Silently
he turned to the guards "Begin dispersing the crowd, try to keep
them calm. After that rally your men...we must send word to
Amori and Haven. Our world may be in grave danger."
The queen knelt down next to Mimiru "Come now, we must get you
to your rooms." she said softly and lead the child away from the
       crowd.
As the Coronation came to an end one question was on everyone's
mind; "Who is the next Protector?
