Not Every Day is Exciting
By: Catalin Date: December 8, 2013, 6:14 am
---------------------------------------------------------
It had been a good day at the market, but being a good day isn't
enough to bring a smile to Catalin's face. He never smiled in
public. Like dropping your pants in public, it was just
something he didn't do. His emotions are something for his eyes
and his sister's only, even though he knows she would prefer it
otherwise.
But that's even if he was in a mood to smile when they were
alone. As it stands, he never is after a shopping trip. So
much noise, so many eyes. He pulls his hood farther along his
face to further veil his face in shadow. On his right hip he
wears his water flask and opposite that the bag holding the food
and supplies they just bought as they walk their way to the
single-room shack they call home.

Close behind Catalin walks his sister, quietly following him.
Her long black dress is nicer than his simple earthen-colored
garb, though certainly a far cry from the finery of further up
in the city and the social ladder. She holds his left hand in
her right, not because of her present and nervousness from being
in public (though it's rather real), but in case he falls like
he sometimes does. At least at this level they're on soil, so
he can usually sense the ground except during very dry times,
but with his foot problems he can't always keep his balance.

As Argentine weaves in between the crowds gathered at the
markets, little did she know that a small boy was following her.
Just as she was distracted by a stall's display he snuck up
behind her and snatched her purse before taking off; pushing
aside a number of people as he made his escape.
"Hey! You get back here punk!" she yelled, tearing after him
before swiftly bringing up her arms to bend clumps of compressed
dirt and sent them flying towards the boy; but the boy took a
sharp turn, leaving one of the projectiles heading straight for
the twins.

A quiet 'oof' is heard from around the corner the boy had ran
around. Shortly following that was a large man stepping out,
holding the boy by his collar.
"Not only should you watch where you're going, but times are
tough enough without petty thievery," he scolded the boy,
narrowly stepping around one of the airborne chunks of earth at
the lost moment. With slightly wide eyes, Rohan looked towards
the source of the bending to see the woman responsible and
likely victim of the boy, promptly stepping over to her,
dragging the boy with him, before clearing his throat to get her
attention, "excuse me, but I believe I have something of yours,"
he explains, revealing the purse he held in his other hand, "and
someone that I'm hoping will give some form of apology,"

Corelia turns at the sound of shouting just in time to see a
fist-sized clump of dirt barreling towards her from behind.
Reflex tosses her to the ground, pulling her brother after her
in a heap by the hand she was holding. He lets out a
disgruntled "Oof" as their groceries spill from his bag, a few
potatoes and beans mostly. Wasting no time, he pulls his hood
back up and recovers from the fall enough to disentangle his
hand from his sister's and crawl out to retrieve them, sweeping
his hand to find them. That finished, he stands and steps
gingerly back to his sister and helps her to her feet as well.
They begin a whispered conversation, and he begins swirling his
left hand.

Bart came running through the market district in a black pair of
pants and singlet top. He was covered in bandages around his
left arm and torso. A shoulder bag was slung over his shoulder
as he bolted down the main street in pursuit of the boy.
Watching from a distance as the massive man of muscle
apprehended him he stopped and placed his hand over his rib cage
as the pain was catching up with him. "Arhg....I'm gunna feel
that tomorrow."

The earth bender blinked in surprise but also sighed in relief
when someone had stopped the thief from escaping. She rushed
over towards them, panting slightly, "Oh thank you, sir." she
gasped, taking back the purse and checking its contents.
The boy struggled in his grasp, flailing about but it was no
use. After tiring a bit, he crossed his arms and avoided looking
at anyone in the eye.
Before Argentine said a few words to the boy, she was distracted
upon seeing a couple of people suddenly fall over not too far
away. She soon realised that it was due to her actions, she
called out, "I'm sorry! Are you alright?"
The earth bender whirled around to find Bart, the young woman
realising how eventful her day suddenly got with all of these
people rushing around, "Bart, you okay?"

"Fine just a scrape Argentine." He said with a laugh to mask the
pain. Given his condition he should be in hospital. He looked to
the large man and smiled. "Good catch there big guy."

"Was kind of hard to miss the kid running into me," he
explained, "gonna take a lot more than that to knock me down,"
he let out a low, throaty chuckle, before turning towards the
direction the rocks were heading, "hope no one was hurt too
badly," he wished aloud before turning back to address the man
before him, "speaking of hurt, what happened to you?"

Bart watched as Argentine and momentarily stepped off to the
side to see what the nearest stall had. He gestured for the Fire
bender to follow.Once she was out of earshot he said. "Water
bender...."
