I've been following the reports.. terrible, horrible thing to
       happen.
They have identified the shooter - an 18 year old who was
transitioning from male to female.. they also shot their mother
and half sibling (11 year old). Used mothers surname on social
       media... went by Jesse Strang
What's so horrific also, is that he/she targeted 12 to 13 year
       olds.. before killing themselves.
Lost their gun license in 2024 - Don't the police check the
property for firearms and remove them at the time ? ... or did
they get the guns from somewhere else.
One 12 year old girl who made it to hospital in Vancouver is not
       expected to last the night.
       Tragic.

I think the police seized the rifle because of the mental health
calls they'd had there, but the mother petitioned to get it back
and they returned it. There is going to be investigating, and
there will be recommendations. This has everyone sickened, like
you said because of the victims being children. We were talking
about it at work yesterday at work and all felt the same.

OpenAI Employees Raised Alarms About Canada Shooting Suspect
       Months Ago.

While using the chatbot last year the suspect "described
scenarios involving gun violence over the course of several
       days."
The posts were flagged by an automated review system and alarmed
employees at OpenAI and some of the employees urged management
       to alert police.
In the end management chose not to alert police.
The company claims they didn't feel the suspects activity didn't
meet the criteria for alerting police and instead banned the
       account.
