Ontario will ban American companies from $30 billion worth of
procurement contracts, rip up a $100-million Starlink deal and
eradicate U.S. booze in its first wave of retaliations against
U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs, Premier Doug Ford said
Tuesday.

Ontario being the largest province with the most people is going
to make the most impact, so good to see them cancelling
contracts.
plus this
"Ford said he will also soon impose a 25 per cent surcharge on
electricity that the province sends to 1.5 million Americans in
several states, and has threatened to cut off power altogether
if U.S. tariffs remain place into April."
On the conservative reddit sub so many there saying the
retaliation from Canada is an act of war. Crazy how much
conservatives in the US hate Canada. Perplexing really, it's not
something I understand.

Tariffs on cars from Mexico and Canada delayed by one month
HTML https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/05/business/tariffs-autos-mexico-canada-paused/index.html
“We spoke with the Big Three auto dealers. We are going to give
a one-month exemption on any autos coming through USMCA,” Trump
said in a statement Leavitt read in a White House briefing.
Those dealers included Stellantis, Ford and General Motors. "
Canada won’t scrap tariffs unless all U.S. levies are lifted.

Trump threatens new tariffs on Canada, including 250% tax on
dairy.
HTML https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/07/business/tariffs-trump-canada/index.html
"A day after offering Canada a one-month reprieve on punishing,
virtually across-the-board 25% tariffs, President Donald Trump
has threatened new tariffs as soon as Friday on Canadian lumber
and dairy products. It’s yet another twist in a serpentine trade
policy that seems to shift on an hourly basis."
I hate to say it but Trump does have point when it comes to
dairy, Canada places a 241% tariff on US dairy imports and has
done so for years well before this recent election of Trump, so
I don't actually have an issue with the US placing a tariff on
dairy, but in general Trump is a moron and needs to stop this
trade war and threats.

Canada suspends imports from biggest US pork processing plant.

"Canada has blocked imports from the biggest U.S. pork
processing plant, a facility run by Smithfield Foods in Tar
Heel, North Carolina, the company said on Friday."
(not exactly tariff related but trade related, the reason is
compliance issues.)

Mmmm offal. You can't make good slurry without good offal.
Trump should choke on a chicken bone.

Not related to Trump but tariff related.
China announces retaliatory tariffs on some Canada farm, food
products.
HTML https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/china-announces-retaliatory-tariffs-on-some-canada-farm-food-products/
"A 100 per cent tariff will be applied to Canadian rapeseed oil,
oilcakes and peas from March 20, while an additional 25 per cent
tariff will be imposed on aquatic products and pork, the
commerce ministry said in a statement."
Canada put import levies on Chinese electric vehicles and steel
and aluminum products so China is responding.
