Cancer is striking more people in their 30s and 40s

Breast, colon, esophagus, gallbladder, kidney, liver, pancreas,
prostate, stomach and thyroid cancers have been increasing in
30-50 year olds since the 1990's.
Life style and the increase in processed foods are likely some
of the causes, along with alcohol and smoking.

Pancreatic cancer scares me the most, rarely does it give early
signs it's lurking inside you, there is no screening test for
it, and by the time people show symptoms it's often stage 4,
non-operable and your going to die in a few months, it also has
a very bad survival rate, 5 year survive rate is around 12%,
pancreatic cancer is one where you hear Bob got sick one day and
       died a month later.
The symptoms are vague with it too, stomach ache, back ache
being the 2 most common, but doctors rarely think pancreatic
cancer when someone complains of a stomach or back ache.
I've spent 5 months now trying to get doctors to take my stomach
ache seriously, chances are it's GERD related, but without
imaging being done, no way to know for sure, but so far all the
doctors I have seen have said not to worry about it, wait and
see if it gets worse than come back.
Upside my family has little history of cancer so that lowers my
risk, but I have spent most of my life not eating healthy, so I
know my diet has increased my risk for these cancers.

Colon cancer in under 55's has increased from 11% of new cases
       in 1995 to 20% in 2019.
In 2019 60% of new colon cancer cases were found in advanced
       stage.
5 year survival rate during 2012 to 2018 time frame was 65% up
       from 50% in the 1970's.
Colon cancer is the 2nd most common cancer death in the US and
the leading cause of cancer deaths in men under 50.
In the US it is recommended people of average risk get screened
starting at 45, a full 5 years earlier than what is recommended
       in BC.

Colorectal cancer is rising among younger adults and scientists
       are racing to uncover why.
  HTML https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/24/health/colorectal-cancer-young-age-mystery/index.html
"Among younger adults, ages 20 to 49, colorectal cancer is
estimated to become the leading cause of cancer-related deaths
in the United States by 2030. "
"colorectal cancer cases among adults younger than 55 increased
from 11% in 1995 to 20% in 2019. Yet the factors driving that
       rise remain a mystery. "

I am a colon cancer survivor - over 5 years since my resection.
I had no symptoms. My cancer was discovered via a screening
programme and, in the 2 years since the previous test, it
developed fom undetectable to a stage2 aggressive tumour. I had
no polyps, my cancer was a "plaque" on the suface of the bowel,
a far less usual type. A friend whose own cancer was two stages
more advanced is no longer with us, despite years of
       chemotherapy. It's almost a lottery.
However, my "win" was supported by that screening programme, it
was supported by a health system that looked to save me, not to
make money, and dedicated professionals who knew where to push
and where to hold back. There is no point fearing cancer, it is
like fearing that a rock will fall on your head. However, like
the fact that you try to avoid overhanging loose rocks, you can
do things to avoid cancer - and knowing your own body is one of
them - realising that sometimes it tells lies is another. Grab
all the help you can, because the worst words to hear are "If
       only we'd found this earlier".
