I have been trying to see a doctor for under arm swelling and
pain for 6 months now.
I did go to urgent care in October before we moved in Vancouver,
no doctor though just saw a nurse practioner who told me to see
my GP, but my GP is in Vancouver and doesn't have office
appointments, it will also cost $240 round trip on a sea plane
to get there and back home.
There is only 1 walk in clinic in this town apparently and well
the 4 times I have tried to go, they had closed already due to
reaching their patient quota for the day.
I wish we had timely and accessible healthcare in this province,
I have a GP appointment for January 9th the earliest I could
get, but this has been an issue since July 2022 and I tried to
see my GP several times in Vancouver for it between July and
October but appointments kept being cancelled.
And no I did not file a complaint, filing a complain with the
college of physicians is a good way to no longer have a GP.

Sorry to hear you are still having discomfort..
Perhaps leave your GP in Vancouver once you have had your
January appointment.. pointless being with them if you can't
get appointments or they are never available when you need to
see them... and the cost involved to get there on the ferry,
return is crazy.
If you don't have a 'regular' GP you are registered with
elsewhere then which ever walk in clinic you go to becomes your
'primary care' GP, according to the BC College
Apparently, according to the College of Physicians and Surgeons,
BC, a walk in clinic that you go to 'regularly' must take over
as your primary care if you don't have a GP - so you may be able
to get things investigated without having a GP - but you would
need to remove yourself from the Family physician patient list
first

Walk in clinics have been closing around the province mostly due
to doctors leaving or retiring and clinics not being able to
find replacements so I imagine that is likely part of the
problem here as well, can't operate a clinic without doctors.
BC Cancer who treats a lot of the cancer patients in BC has lost
18 oncologists and they are strugglng to find replacements, it's
why we now have people dying of cancer before they can even see
an oncologist and begin treatment.

I am on the wait list for that clinic, they are signing people
up on a first come first served basis, they are currently on mid
September sign ups being processed for appointments, I signed up
mid to late October, so I am just waiting.
They are not charging during the wait period.

Flu season this year is getting bad.
Prairie provinces have the worst rates of positive flu tests
with 28% coming back positive between Nov 6th and 12th.

I was got sick last Tuesday, then felt normal on Saturday until
yesterday and today woke up sick again, where last weeks was
like a cold, today it's more of a sore throat and body aches,
just weird how I was sick for a few days, then better and felt
fine back to being sick again.

I've been flu-free (got my shot), but a friend is sick with it.
He said the doctor told him he also has a "dead spot in his
stomach" whatever the hell that is. I asked if it was a lack of
probiotics, but he had no idea. Said he couldn't eat pork or a
bunch of other stuff now, so we'll see how that goes. He's the
Parkinson's guy I try to give lifts to when I can, to save him
cab fares. I took him some joints today because he's out, and
he looks like shit. I told him so, and he appreciated it, said
"I probably feel like it too." ;D

B.C. cancer patient faces 6-month wait for biopsy.

The lady is considering going to the US for the biopsy, it will
be costly but she will get the biopsy done in a week rather than
months.
For those who don't have funds to pay in the US, well they just
get to wait and possibly die before they even have a biopsy,
just as some patients are dying before they can even see an
oncologist to begin treatment.
