2,000 patients at BC clinic told they no longer have a GP as the
clinic has been unable to find new doctors to replace 2 who
left.

The GI doctors office I am on the wait list last I spoke to them
in August my appointment isn't expected to be until 2023
sometime.
Pap smears are also an issue in BC taking 14 to 16 weeks to get
results and thus delaying treatment if there is cancer, but even
cancer patients are struggling to get timely treatment after
diagnoses due to a lack of oncologists.

Province cuts ambulance service in Kelowna, from 10 ambulances
to 7.
The cuts come depsite call volumes for paramedics increasing, in
2018 paramdics had 19,752 calls and that grew to 23,505 in 2021,
on average call volume increases 6% per year.
People have already died waiting for paramedics to arrive,
including an infant in cardiac arrest over the summer.
The union gave a recent example where a paramedic unit was
assigned 17 calls to respond to but could only respond to 12 of
them in the 12 hour shift.
Basically at this point in BC if you have a severe medical
emergency like cardiac arrest or a stroke and cannot transport
yourself to hospital, don't expect to live as good chance
paramedics wont be available to come to your aid.

All 3 virus's pretty much the same thing, in my humble
opinion... they are all 'covid' types / respiratory viruses -
i.e. potentially causing inflammation of the lungs and
respiratory tract.

The wait times for the Children's Hospital are unacceptable, I
agree.. children can go downhill so quickly, they need to be
treated urgently.

Canada has a shortage of Childrens Advil and Childrens Tylenol,
the US, Australia and others do not have a shortage, Health
Canada has waived some requirements in labels so imports from
the US and Australia can be used in Canadian hospitals, but the
big question remains, why is there such a critical shortage in
Canada but not elsewhere?

The manufactuers of the drugs are not commenting on the Canadian
shortage.

Waits for cancer testing in BC continues to worsen due to
critical shortages of medical imaging technologists.
Women in need of a needle biopsy to check for cancer cells are
waiting upwards of 3 plus months.
A Vancouver woman started feeling tingling in her feet in 2020,
referred for an MRI which took 1 year, she needed a 2nd MRI
which took 6 months, the 2nd MRI doctors found a large tumour
compressing against her spine, she finally got surgery in April
2022.
BC has the lowest number of medical radiation technologists per
capita in Canada and would need to hire 1,300 to get to the
national average.
There is also a severe shortage of sonographers for ultrasound
imaging.

Hopefully they have reopened, but in July the only x-ray place
in Kelowna other than the hospital had to close due to staff
shortages, and the BCIT training program could only fill 28 out
of 80 seats which seems to indicate people just are not entering
the field, doesn't help that BCIT has a high barrier to entry

TIL Ontario covers some infertility treatment with limits better
than BC, but stil expensive as the medications are pretty costly
and not covered.

BC only covers fertility testing, they wont cover any fertility
treatments at all, IVF runs anywhere from 9,000-15,000 per
cycle, we were quoted $12,000 ish when we did the fertility
testing stuff a few years ago, that was per cycle I beleive.

B.C. cancer patients dying before their first consultations.
Since 2020 BC Cancer Agency has lost 18 medical and radiation
oncologists.
"just one in five patients referred to an oncologist received an
initial consultation within the recommended two-week timeframe.
In comparison, about 75 percent of Ontario patients are seen
within two weeks."

The healthcare here in BC is failing and collapsing and people
are now dying from it before they can even see a doctor let
alone get treatment.
