So everything is in the normal range for the blood work except
the RBC and Gamma GT not a doctor so I don't what this means
exactly if anything.
Gamma GT is 51 and lab says normal is 49 or less, so not crazy
abnormal but a little out of range.

It appears it will be quite difficult to receive non-emergency
healthcare on Vancouver Island.

A Quebec man went to an ER and waited for 16 hours never seeing
a doctor, so he went home, got worse at home, went to another ER
and died 10 minutes after arriving, doctor in the article seems
to suggest had he gotten timely medical care at the first ER the
man may not have died.

The man had an aortic dissection.

I signed up with the clinic in Victoria, the payments are
monthly not annual that I thought, $110 per month is worth it
for me to have a GP and it's only about hour drive.

Good luck if your an adult with ADHD that was never diagnosed at
a child and doubly good luck if your over 35.

The number of Canadian nurses getting the paperwork required to
work in the United States has more than doubled to almost 1,700
in the last five years.
"“Even the full-time permanent roles are paying a good $15-$20
more than what you would make in Canada, and then the sign-on
bonuses, $10,000, $20,000, assistance with housing and
relocation -- all of that is typically part of the package,”
said Samantha White with Intellistaff, a Toronto recruitment
firm."
Seems to a money issue, more pay better benefits in the US for
nurses.

B.C. launching new payment model for family doctors.

GP's will be able to opt out of the current fee-for-service
system in the new year, under the pay for service system
currently in use, doctors are paid on a per patient basis.
The new model will take other factors into account such as how
much time the doctor spends with a patient, the complexity of
the patients needs, the number of patients a doctor sees per
day, as well as the total patient count a doctor supports
through their practice as well as admin costs to operate the
practice.
Under the current system GP's are paid roughly $30 regardless of
the complexity of the patients needs, and out of that $30 per
patient doctors have to fully cover the operating cost of being
a doctor.
In September the BC government acknowledged that BC was indeed
in a healthcare crises.
In 2003 340,000 people in BC were without a GP in 2017 the most
recent stats available that had risen to 908,000 and is
estimated to be 1 million now as the situation has only gotten
worse.
The province hopes the new pay structure will be more attractive
to both retain current GP's and to attract GP's to BC.
A full-time famiy doctor will earn roughly $385,000/yr under the
new system up from $250,000 currently.
Dr. Ramneek Dosanjh, president of Doctors of B.C praised the
agreement saying it is the best in Canada and a "seismic shift"
in how doctors are paid.

Time will tell if the new payment system will attract more GP's
to the province.
