That's a ludicrous time to wait for a GI appointment... you
wouldn't wait that long in Ontario. Is it your gP being tardy
and not chasing it up, or that the specific specialist is too
busy?

The GP office say's the clinic has confirmed the referral as
being received, why there has not been an appointment, they
don't know as the specialist clinic isn't returning their calls.
I have tried calling the specialist clinic as well, only voice
mail, and they never return my calls.
There are about a dozen GI doctors all working out of this
clinic, a good chunk of the available GI docs all work out of
this clinic, last week when I called again, the GP clerk said
she will have the doctor refer to another GI clinic, I will call
this week to follow up if that referral has been sent.
I wouldn't surprised if there just isn't enough GI doctors to go
around and they just can't see lower priority patients due to
high demand of higher priority patients.
BC has been losing doctors at an alarming rate, last June for
example there were 19 vacancies for Oncologists and since 2020
18 Oncologists have left the BC Cancer Agency.

Cancer patients are supposed to see an oncologist within 2
weeks, but as of last fall only 1 in 5 were seen within 2 weeks
of referral.
In Ontario 75% of patients are seen within 2 weeks.
One patient was diagnosed with cancer in June, and it was until
the end of September he got to see an oncologist, by then he was
bed ridden and too weak to travel to Victoria for cancer
treatment.
Some biopsies are taking 6+ months to get results.

It hurts to say bye to my daughter and fly to the U.S. But I
can't find work as a doctor in Canada.

There is an exemption available from the 1 year residency
(practice) requirement :D

Years ago I had a doctor whose wife was also a doctor, but she
wasn't permitted to practice here so she was living in Australia
and practicing there. He left the clinic and they both moved to
a 3rd country where both their licenses were recognised.

"admitted that he mistakenly performed a hip replacement in 2016
on a woman who actually needed a knee replacement."
A lawyer who specializes in medical malpractice says the number
of negligence lawsuits this doctor has seen is higher than usual
for a surgeon in his specialty.

Been having pains for months on my right side, upper abdomen,
doctor finally did some blood work, liver tests show some signs
my liver may not be functioning properly, may explain the pain,
which has gotten worse, follow up appointment end of April
(doctor is away on vacation for 3 weeks.) and probably get an
ultra sound requisition, that will take a few weeks, maybe by
June there will be a hint as to what is going on.

BC Government looks to limit Ozempic exports to US after this
little drug export scheme was discovered.
Basically a doctor who practices in Texas but was licensed also
in Nova Scotia was writing prescriptions for this medication,
then 2 Vancouver area pharmacies would fill the prescriptions.
The doctor has had his Nova Scotia license suspended, and wrote
some 17,000 prescriptions over a 3 month period of which 15,798
were filled in BC.
BC is also investigating the 2 BC pharmacies involved in this.

This hasn't led to a shortage of the drug in BC, but the BC
government wants to prevent it and is moving to ban exports.

So frustrating how L can't get a psychiatrist, she is starting
to struggle and showing signs of going manic.
She hasn't had regular psychiatric care since we left Vancouver
in October, so 6 months now, she saw a doctor 1 or 2 times in
Duncan but that was it, she is on a wait list now for Victoria,
but they told her it will probably be close to a year.
For comparison in Vancouver she saw the psychiatrist 1-2 times
per month, and had a case worker, now she is on her own.
We should have never left Vancouver.
