Hopefully you will hear this week.. maybe check with your GP if
it's not showing up on your online record..

L has been told 1 to 2 years before she is likely to get into a
psychiatrist, which is a problem, historically when she isn't
being followed by a psychiatrist on a regular basis, she goes
manic, which means losing her job, and when your job is attached
to your housing this is an issue.
I really wish we could just move back to Vancouver, it's pretty
clear Vancouver is the only place where healthcare is at least
functional, because her on the island it's not functional at
all, and a bipolar with her history needs to be followed by a
psychiatrist to prevent her from going manic.
GP's and walk in clinics wont help when it comes to complex
mental health issues and medications.
I don't understand why Canadian politicians sit and do nothing
as healthcare collapses.

That's terrible - she shouldn't have that long a wait when she
is already assessed as having mental health issues...
I don't know if any of these are of use..

I am going to try the walk in clinic again tomorrow, each time I
have tried over the past few days they were at capacity and
couldn't see anymore patients.
There is a major shortage of walk in clinics and GP's here and
demand far out strips supply to the point it's almost impossible
to see a GP.
The pain in my stomach is just getting worse, feels like there
is something in there kicking me from the inside.
It's not emergency level yet, but dang I am tempted to just go
to the ER since it seems like it might be the quickest option at
this point to see a doctor, or go to Vancouver, I may just try
going to Vancouver.

If it's hurting that much you shouldn't wait too long to see
someone, if you don't want to go to the ER perhaps Urgent Care
would be of use?

I was at the neurologist yesterday to check on my carpal-tunnel,
and was told keep using the brace (and got a prescription for a
new one)and to come back in a year unless everything's fine, and
to cancel if that is the case. Picked up my blood pressure and
cholesterol pills this morning; when I'm no longer working and
under the health plan I may try ditching those, we'll see when
the time comes. Coming up I have dates with the periodontist
and the oral surgeon and then it will be summer.

crossed. I have been waiting 2 years now for one.

I haven't seen my neurologist since before covid.. in Ontario if
you haven't seen a specialist for a year you have to get another
referral (which is ridiculous when covid caused me not to be
able to see my neurologist, cardiologist etc.,) and I don't have
a GP, so can't get a referral easily.
I stopped taking statins a year ago, after developing peripheral
neuropathy in part of my left hand (2 fingers, part of my thumb
and part of the palm. I only had to pay a little when I was
taking them, as Ontario has a co-pay scheme for seniors.

My former doctor agreed to me stopping blood pressure
medication, as mine varied from very low to fairly high,
depending on my diet, weight and exercise. (Salt being my
nemesis - I crave salty things after strictly limiting my salt
intake for 4 years).
