       Covid origins

Hungarian researchers from Eötvös Loránd University and the
University of Veterinary Medicine have made important
discoveries... finding out about the origins of the coronavirus.
Their data supports the theory that the coronavirus leaked from
a laboratory and did not spread from animals to humans
naturally. “Thus, the ‘freedom of speech of the data’ forced us
to modify the hypothesis, which I am very sorry about because it
would have been a much more interesting scientific story and
much less imbued with politics and a Chinese hamster,” said
Professor István Csabai in a summary published on the
       university’s website.
This genetic material is not derived from living animals but
from cell cultures often used in virological experiments.

Unless someone wants to suggest that the pandemic was started
deliberately, I'm not very bothered. All major countries have
such facilities - Porton Down being an example. Issues arise -
Gruinard Island was infected with Anthrax and had to be closed
       off for years.
In this case, we know there was a lab at Wuhan, we know the
virus seemed to emerge from Wuhan..... but we also know that
China provided information to help offset the pandemic. A
pathogen escaped into the wild. The pathogen may have been a
product of valid research, but that makes it no less deadly.
China is a closed society and anything that would attach blame
to local or national leaders will be suppressed.....
It is what it is - and, hopefully, lessons have been learned.

Yes, but it's always good to know the truth (if the above is
correct) - better to be on guard & alert to the right cause than
       the wrong one!

Hard to see what could have been done by anyone but the Chinese
on the ground..... and they tried to stifle the pandemic. The
problem is, connections and movement are now so easy that this
       is almost impossible.
It would be nice to think that governments are now aware of the
       threats of a pandemic.
